I imagine a lot of us are remembering Dolly Parton today. What a legend in her own time she was! As some of you know, she was honored with the song, “What Would Dolly Do?” in the Five Date Rule movie which also just happened to feature a beautiful Cook’s Collie, Shiloh, who played the part of Utah! This old news clip tells a little bit more about the movie. If you want to see it for yourself, I believe that it can be found on the ROKU channel or at TUBI. , In the new movie ''Five Date Rule,'' a children's book author looking for love gets a three-month subscription to a dating app for her birthday. Janelle Arthur stars in the film and she talked with Alyse Eady about making the faith-friendly romantic comedy.

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to make a quick post about vaccinations. I know this can be a controversial topic, but I hope we can all just focus on positives and doing what is best for our pets. I was looking over a veterinary record from a first-time-puppy-owner family who had gotten one of our puppies recently. The day before they had picked her up from us, she had been given a dose of Nobivac 1 DAPPv (a typical 5 way puppy shot) and a dose of Advantix (flea and tick preventative.) The shot record was sent home with the puppy. Four days later, she was taken to her new vet's office for a well puppy exam. At this vet visit, all of her previous vaccinations were ignored. (1 bordetella vaccination, and 3 rounds of puppy shots had already been done while she was under our care.) The staff at her new clinic administered DA2PP, Rabies, Bordetella, and Leptospirosis, vaccinations at that first visit. They also gave her a shot for pain and inflammation, and she was given a dose of Sentinel Spectrum and a dose of Bravecto. This is far too much for a puppy's immune system all at once in my opinion, and she got pretty sick for a week or so after that. Thankfully, puppy was healthy and made a full recovery. (DA2PP, Bordetella and Leptospirosis vaccinations were repeated 3 weeks later.) We are not opposed to any of these vaccinations in healthy dogs. But, we do think over vaccinating can be very harmful to any dog's immune system. So what can be done to prevent over vaccinating? First of all, get your dog's vaccination record and familiarize yourself with it. Take the time to learn what the vaccines are for and how often they are needed to be given. (If you have any questions, ask your vet or your breeder.) Next, don't allow your dog to get multiple vaccinations in one day. Simply ask for an appointment for the second vaccination a couple of weeks later. To minimize reactions, giving flea, tick or heartworm medications on different days from the vaccinations can be helpful too. Veterinarians and their staff are trying to help your dog or puppy stay healthy, but miscommunication can happen. Being knowledgeable and being your dog's advocate can prevent an over vaccination incident. (The puppy in this story is doing great, by the way!)

The Adams family of Colorado sent us this cute video of their c**t, Monte, playing with Robby (formerly Tartan from Scotch and Stetson's litter). Looks like a little piece of Heaven right there!
