Some patients leave a mark on you. ❤️🐰

This little guy came to us with a severely damaged hind limb that had reached the point where amputation was his best chance at a comfortable life.

A hind-limb amputation is a big surgery for any animal, but rabbits present their own unique challenges. They are incredibly sensitive to pain, anesthesia, and changes in their normal routine, and getting them eating again after surgery is critical.

So tonight, he is home with us, warm and comfortable, receiving pain medication, supportive care, and plenty of encouragement to eat. He's already producing some little poops, which is a very encouraging sign. ❤️

He has a long road ahead of him, but rabbits are remarkably resilient, and we're hoping this little guy proves just how tough they can be.

From X-rays, to surgery, to snuggles and syringe-feeding at home—this is what veterinary medicine looks like sometimes. It's not always glamorous, but it is incredibly rewarding.

We're rooting for you, little guy. You have a whole team behind you. 🐰❤️

Luna took the scenic route to South Carroll!

Her journey began in Kuwait, where she was in a foster home with Kitty Love Kuwait. The area has seen a lot of overbreeding, especially of certain breeds. Just when she was about to fly to America to meet her new mom, the Kuwait airport was bombed - twice! After several extra months with her foster, Luna was able to take a bus ride to Saudi Arabia, where she made her flight to D.C. She’s now at her new home in Anne Arundel County where she’s learning the English words for treats - but she understands the crinkle of plastic!
