Nacho’s “Pay it Forward” post!
Our Bridge Pup Nacho is doing much better after getting meds for his hives and he’ll be having his tail amputation surgery early next year. Nacho, his potential forever family, and I are all very grateful that one of our other Bridge Pups adopters and local animal rescuer/foster/advocate (she fostered our first-ever immigrant pup Simba and went on to adopt cutie Bridge Pup Gumbo!) donated a brand new XL crate to Nacho! It’s so heart warming to get help from kind souls like Kathy and so many of you out there. In the spirit of the Holidays, we’d like to encourage you to follow Kathy’s lead and donate something in need to any of the many local Rescues here or wherever you are.
Perhaps even a blanket donation to El Paso Animal Services!
Tis the season to give and receive love and gratitude in return. 🎄❤️🐾

Sweet Nachito got meds for his hives and for his infection. Like Carmelita, he will also need his tail amputated soon. Here he is on his joyride home from the vet. And, here’s yesterday’s vet bill. Donations always needed for the mounting vet bills—thank you!

Courtesy post: Our friend Doug from Raices is in urgent need of help for this cutie male pup. Sadly, an unhoused couple abandoned the pup at Nuevas Raíces and Doug can’t keep the pup. He looks to be a cocker spaniel. We can ask our kind friends at Paso County Animal Welfare for help with vaccinating and the pup appears to be neutered (we will have vet check chip status, too). Doug says he’s suuuuuuper sweet! Can anyone take in this precious fella so he doesn’t end up at Paso Animal Services???

Carmelita dropping in to show off her new sweater (her first one ever!), beds, and harness that wonderful people bought her from her Amazon Wish List! She’s also very thankful for the gift cards that were sent so her potential forever dad Isaac can buy her more supplies!
Isaac says she’s doing wonderfully. Knowing she’s safe, warm, and cared for is the best feeling!
Thank you to each of you who donated items from her Wish List or sent monetary donations! Her vet visit is coming up soon and we’ll give you a pupdate about her surgery then.
Yayyy for Carmelita!!!!!!

Friends, I did it!!! This Honolulu Marathon course was absolutely brutal with a downpour of rain at the beginning that completely soaked every racer and made our shoes heavy and super uncomfortable, never ending puddles that didn’t allow for shoes to dry, too dark for comfort in some parts of the course for the first two hours, pain in both my knees (had to stop at an aid station to put tape on my right one) and ending with the last few miles UPHILL.
I worked so hard to try and beat my previous marathon time of 4:07:41 but in this case, I’m proud I actually even finished with my Garmin clocking me at 4:13:26.
Knowing that I was doing this in honor of Aaron Sweeney who was part of the Bridge Pups Rescue family and who did so much for local pups by not only adopting, but volunteering his time to help us, and so much more definitely helped push me to finish. I’m so grateful that my soul sister was here with me, and I’m sooooo proud of her for doing her first 10K, also in honor of Aaron.
Thank you to all who pledged $1 for every mile I ran! And if you would still like to donate in Aaron’s honor, your help would be so very appreciated!

Please see my previous post to read more about Aaron and his precious pup Clegg (formerly Bridge Pup Echo). And please keep in mind we have surgeries pending for Carmelita, Floyd (named after Pink Floyd, Aaron’s favorite band), and Nacho. And Carmelita’s Rx food is so costly! Every dollar helps us continue to help pups.

Hi friends, Ruby here. As some of you might remember, the Bridge Pups Rescue family had a huge loss when my dear friend passed away unexpectedly in June of last year. I had the privilege of meeting Aaron through my Bridge Pups Rescue when he offered to foster a very special pup who had crossed from Juarez, Echo. Echo had severe anxiety and it took days to get him to trust me. I knew it would take a very special person to adopt and love Echo. That person was Aaron. He dubbed Echo “Corporal Clegg” and Aaron felt that Clegg was the reincarnation of his soul dog who had passed, Jumpmaster. Aaron adored Clegg and Clegg adored Aaron.
Aaron and I quickly became good friends and bonded over our love of Pink Floyd, transcendental experiences, and dog memes. Aaron was always quick to lend a helping hand whether with my Bridge Pups, volunteering regularly with or helping me move. Aaron was immensely intelligent and his research in neuroscience was incredibly impressive. One of our recent Bridge Pups, Floyd, is named so because he was found on the day Aaron would have graduated from . Since he loved Pink Floyd, I thought it would be a nice tribute.
When Aaron and I first met, he had just run the Honolulu Marathon. I had also run my first marathon on Kiawah Island and we often talked about doing the Honolulu one together. Aaron loved Hawaii, and even lived in Honolulu for a time.
Well, I’m here in Honolulu now and I’ll be running the full marathon tomorrow, Sunday the 14th in honor of my dearly loved and very much missed friend Aaron.
I’m sharing this with you all in the hopes that you might consider pledging $1 for every mile I run so that I can continue trying to bring humans to their soul pups, as I did with Aaron and Clegg. Right now, we have 3 pups’ surgeries pending: Carmelita for her hip dysplasia, Nacho for tail amputation, and Floyd for lumps on his b***y. I can’t help pups without help from you all, and I’m so thankful for each of you who do help!

Here’s to friendships that don’t end when life does, to soul dogs, and to living each day as if it might be your last!
Thank you, all. ❤️🐾
Aloha, Ruby 🌺🌴l

We added items to our Amazon Wish List that Carmelita needs and will help make life easier in her new potential forever home. We could also very much use help with her food costs. Because of her kidneys issues, she can only have Rx food prescribed to her by West Texas Cimarron Vet Clinic and shipped by Covetrus which is almost $200 each month.
Any help you can give for our precious sweetpea Carmelita is so very much appreciated!!!

🚨 Carmelita urgently needs a foster or forever home. She’s currently staying in a home where she isn’t allowed indoors because of the family’s cats. ‼️
Carmelita’s background: We found her in an especially povertous neighborhood in Juárez this past May. We were told that people in the neighborhood threw rocks at her due to her roaming in their yards. We noticed her eye was cloudy and she was emaciated. We just couldn’t leave her there.
Since bringing her across the border, we discovered here eye was cloudy due to blunt force trauma, she needs surgery for hip dysplasia, and has anemia. Her surgery will take place once those values improve which should hopefully be soon. She also had to have her tail amputated.
She’s bounced from foster to foster with no offers of adoption since we rescued her in May. She had been living with 4 other pups recently, big and small, but got into a squabble with one so we have reason to believe she’s food/treat protective and would thrive being an only pup. She is incredibly affectionate and loves being a lap dog and couch potato. She loves giving smooches and getting belly rubs. She is maybe 4-5, will be spayed when she gets her hip dysplasia surgery, and her specialty food is provided by us. She is crate trained and vaccinated and knows how to use doggy doors.
Carmelita has been through so much. She deserves a family of her own so badly. Can anyone please offer her a warm home to stay in, even temporarily?

A heartbreaking plea for help: Friends, meet Layla, a 3 year old St. Bernard - Great Dane mix. Layla was taken to West Texas Cimarron Canyon Vet Clinic today by her “family” to be euthanized because they no longer wanted to “deal” with Layla’s diabetes.
The staff would not comply with their euthanasia request as this is not a life or death situation and the staff is now fully committed to helping Layla with her diabetes. Their kind-hearted vet tech called me to ask if I could help find Layla a new family. The vet tech told me “health concerns are the diabetes but we’ll get her up-to-date on vaccines and getting her stable for her to go to a good home.”
If you are interested in Layla, please DM us! Please Share!
