🤍 Honestly, could Leo be any more precious? 🤍

Those big, beautiful puppy-dog eyes, his ridiculously adorable facial expressions…it’s pretty clear that he’s topping the charts 📈 when it comes to looks, but he’s also an overachiever in the charm department.🥰

A sweet little man who loves to cuddle & play, Leo loves to give kisses😘 & play fetch with soft toys🧸. He also enjoys a little R&R, especially kicking back with his friends—which includes pretty much everyone he’s ever met. Leo is an easy-going guy who gets along great with other dogs & all of his human admirers.

Leo was surrendered to Luna’s House when his previous guardians’ health declined to a point at which they could no longer care for him.😔 He wasn’t walked outside very often in his previous home, so he’s making up for lost time on outdoor excursions, sniffing up a storm & loving every moment of it.🐶

At just over five years of age, little Leo has a new lease on life thanks in part to our awesome volunteers, but also to his new parents Pam & Mark! 🎉

Pam was a dog volunteer at LH years ago and had previously adopted a handsome Shih Tzu gentleman named Eliot. Eliot has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge 🌈🐾, and Pam & Mark knew they were ready to add another furry companion to their home.🏠

🥳 Please help us congratulate Leo on finding his forever folks and in thanking Pam & Mark for opening their hearts to this special fellow.💙🐾

🚘💙 Adoptable pups Cedric, Sandy, & Tyson had a fabulous time at Perryville, Maryland’s Friday Cruisers event this past Friday! 💙🚙

Every third Friday of the month from April through October, the town of Perryville, Maryland hosts their Friday Cruisers event, complete with car show🚗, live music 🎶, food 🌭, & lots of fun!🎉

This was a new adventure for our pups, one we look forward to attending again. Opportunities to enjoy different scenery & meet new people—including potential adopters🤞—are so important for our rescue dogs. We are grateful that businesses & organizations in our community provide us these chances to enrich the lives of our canine charges.🐶

🐾💙 If you are at all familiar with Luna’s House, you probably know (and love) our rescue’s co-founder Nevin.

Known as “Papa Nevin” to the rescue animals at our facility, Nevin is a 25-year veteran of Harford County Public Schools and enlightens children of all ages through his work at Luna’s House. He has a unique connection with animals…even the most fearful and abused seem to love and trust him implicitly.

Nevin is the kind of person who renews your faith in humanity. Even in the darkest of times, he can bring light✨, laughter😆, and joy💛 to those around him.

While Nevin & his wife Lisa never had human children of their own, Nevin is a steadfast father figure to countless kids of all species. We would like to wish a very Happy Father’s Day to our very own everyday hero & papa to so many little ones over the years.💙🐾

🐱 In March we shared the adoption story of Fern, a gorgeous tortoiseshell kitty who was found in a parking lot less than 24 hours before colossal Winter Storm Fern hit our area in January.❄️

Despite having been found outdoors in frigid weather with healing abrasions on her neck, the Fern—named after the storm she narrowly escaped—was an absolute sweetheart.🥰

Fern was adopted by Threasa, a long-time Dog Team volunteer at Luna’s House. Threasa renamed her beloved new baby Willow & reached out to share an update with us:

“She is doing great and has adjusted so well. She is my little reading buddy and loves snuggling up with me on the couch…

“She is everything that I needed and more. She is still a troublemaker though! I had to make my sink a maximum security prison to keep her out of my garbage disposal!!😹 One of her other quirks is screaming at the top of her lungs after every meal to let everyone know that yes, she has finished, and no, it was not nearly enough.😸

“I wouldn't change a single thing about her. I am so blessed to have her in my life.” 🩵🥹

We absolutely LOVE updates about the animals we have adopted out into their forever homes! If you have added a LH kiddo to your home, please send us an update to share with our fantastic volunteers. Seeing our little ones happy, living their best lives, is the most rewarding part of rescue. 🫶💙🐾

You may have heard that there was a serious car accident in front of our facility yesterday afternoon. What you likely didn’t hear was that one of our phenomenal employees, Kayla, was responsible for saving a life.

Just before 3pm yesterday, an ear-splitting noise directly outside our Animal Care & Education Center rattled everyone in the building. Within moments, we realized that a terrible car accident had taken place. Kayla, who was working the front desk, immediately ran out to help the accident victims.

As our long-time volunteer Kristie contacted 911 for assistance, Kayla assessed those who had been in the vehicles involved in the accident. Luckily, both drivers had sustained only minor or moderate injuries and the dog in the one car was unscathed. Unfortunately, the passenger of one vehicle had suffered much more serious injuries.

Kayla, who is CPR trained and certified, sprung into action when the man lost consciousness and no respiration or pulse could be detected for several seconds. She was able to revive him with the assistance of individuals from a neighboring business.

Emergency medical personnel, State Troopers, and the Sheriff’s Office arrived shortly thereafter and took over the urgent care of the injured passenger. The man, who regained consciousness and was able to speak to EMTs, was transported in a Medevac to the hospital. His prognosis was guarded but stable.

We have always known that our employees and volunteers are heroes for the work they do for our rescue animals. To see that heroism extend to saving the life of a human being in grave danger was truly incredible to behold.

We will be providing CPR training—for both humans and animals—to our staff so that we can all be prepared to help someone in their time of greatest need.

Please help us thank Kayla (pictured with her canine daughter Pryia) for her lifesaving efforts yesterday and for being a champion for animals every day. 🙏💙🐾

Almost Brothers, Less Than Three, Anne Newberry, Weatherly, and The Availables, fronted by our friend Mike Newberry—who also organized the musical acts & sound production for LunaPalooza—treated attendees to great tunes all day long!
