🌟 Our social media star, Rhett, is BACK! 🌟

After spending his summer living his best life at the beach with his family, Rhett is home and ready to take his training to the next level! 🐾

One of the best things Rhett’s family did for him was START EARLY. By beginning training during his baby puppy stage, we were able to lay a strong foundation before the bigger puppy behaviors, independence, and growing pains started kicking in.

Rhett spent the entire summer at the beach with his family, and they worked incredibly hard to maintain everything he originally learned with us. Now that he’s home, it’s time to build on that foundation!

Over the next 6 weeks, we’ll be working on:
🐾 Transitioning his skills toward reliable off leash freedom
🐾 Strengthening and polishing his obedience
🐾 Building more reliability around distractions
🐾 Working through those adolescent puppy growing pains
🐾 Continuing to shape him into a confident, well rounded adult dog

At 6–7 months old, Rhett is still very much a puppy. He’s growing, testing boundaries, and figuring out the world but that doesn’t mean training stops. This is actually where all of that early foundation starts to REALLY pay off.

We’re so excited to spend the next six weeks working with this handsome dude and showing everyone just how much he can accomplish.

Welcome back, Rhett! We missed that face! 🖤🐾

Today’s main focus: heeling…but make it doubles! 🐾🐾

In Megan’s clips, she’s working Lily & Luke, our littermate duo. When Luke first came to us, he truly thought he couldn’t live without Lily by his side. Now, these two can confidently work separately AND together without being pushy with one another or losing focus on their handler and the task at hand.

Watching them learn that they can be independent while still working beautifully as a pair has been such a huge win. We’re incredibly proud of these two little pups! 💛

In Ashley’s clips, she’s working with Finn & Hank, our older duo. Finn has some additional challenges due to an eye injury that left him with impaired vision, but he continues to show us just how capable he is. He’s learning to build confidence without heavily relying on Hank to guide him through everything. Now, he can focus and work independently while also coming back together with Hank and working as a solid pair.

The goal isn’t just to teach four dogs how to heel next to each other. It’s teaching each dog that their handler is their point of focus, whether their sibling or buddy is beside them or not.

And these four show off so many of the reasons we love Labs. ❤️💛 They’re intelligent, versatile, eager to work, and make incredible working dogs AND family companions. With the right training, structure, and communication, they can really shine.

Keep it up, Lily, Luke, Finn & Hank! 🐾

Welcome to BMC K9 where we thoroughly and genuinely LOVE to spoil your dogs as much as you do at home 🤣

Enzo, the mini Dauchund, is working with our trainer Tyler for 2 weeks on learning obedience as well as crate training and leash training. While Enzo is JUST a baby, he’s learning a lot and also getting properly spoiled in Tyler’s care. 🥰

Working anxious dogs in public environments 🐾

This is something a lot of owners struggle with, especially when you add a strongly bonded pair into the mix.

Timmy and Jam are VERY bonded. If one barks, they both go off whether it’s another dog, a person, or even another kind of animal. Their emotions feed off each other, which can make navigating busy environments that much harder.

Jam, our black and tan girl, is extremely attached to Timmy. When he’s around and there’s a lot happening in the environment, focusing on her handler becomes difficult because so much of her attention is tied to what he’s doing.

Timmy likes to pretend he isn’t bonded… but he absolutely is. 😂 He struggles to work independently when Jam is present because his brain is constantly telling him he needs to get back to his sister.

In Timmy’s clip, you’ll notice Ashley using her hand to help guide his face forward as he passes Jam. This isn’t about forcing him to ignore her it’s about helping him work through that anxious urge to immediately turn toward her, fixate on her, or get back to her. We’re showing him exactly where we want his attention and helping him successfully move through the moment.

With bonded dogs, sometimes the goal isn’t just teaching obedience. It’s teaching independence.

They need to learn:
• I can work without my sibling.
• I can pass them without immediately needing to get to them.
• I can experience something exciting or stressful without feeding off their reaction.
• I can look to my handler for direction instead of automatically looking to the other dog.

That’s why public training can be so valuable. We can create controlled opportunities to work through real distractions, real emotions, and real situations they’re going to encounter in everyday life.

We aren’t expecting Timmy and Jam to suddenly stop caring about each other. Their bond isn’t the problem. We’re teaching them that they can be confident, functional individuals even when the other one is right there.

Little moments like calmly passing one another may not look huge from the outside, but for dogs that feel like they have to be together, they’re big wins.

One repetition at a time, we’re building confidence, independence, and a much healthier way for these two to navigate the world together and apart.

Introducing a 4 Lab Pack! 🐾🖤

Meet Hank, Finn, Lily & Luke! 🐶🐶🐶🐶

These 4 are officially starting their training journey with us and we’ve got plenty to work on!

They’re here to build a full foundation of obedience while also focusing on:
🐾 Better house manners
🐾 Strong, reliable recall for future off leash freedom
🐾 Crate training to prevent destructive behaviors in the home
🐾 Building independence and working through sibling separation
🐾 Addressing minor resource guarding
🐾 Creating structure, boundaries, and clear expectations

Training 4 dogs from the same household brings a unique challenge and we want them to learn how to work together but just as importantly, how to be confident and successful individually.

Today marks the beginning of a whole new world of structure for this crew. 💪

Wish Hank, Finn, Lily & Luke luck as they get started! We can’t wait to watch their progress. 🐾

Parker is proof that real world training changes lives. 👏

When Parker came to us, he was incredibly reactive. His family was worried about how he would adjust as their baby became more mobile and they lacked the confidence to safely manage those situations.

Real world training isn’t just teaching commands in a quiet environment. It’s about building solid foundations, setting clear expectations, and then practicing those skills in controlled environments that closely mirror the situations a dog will face at home.

Tyler put in an incredible amount of work with Parker and the results speak for themselves. Watching Parker calmly walk through a busy public space, with a stroller, and remain neutral around a baby is exactly the kind of success we strive for.

We’re so proud of Parker and can’t wait to watch Parker and his family step into this next chapter with confidence. ❤️🐾
