Take a look back at all we accomplished during VEG Cares Share Month! Throughout October, many of our hospitals nationwide hosted 5K events to raise money for VEG Cares, which makes lifesaving care possible for pets in need who might otherwise go without it 🐶🐱 This year was an incredible showcase of VEGgie generosity and community energy, with:

👟15 local in-person and virtual 5K events
🏥 38 participating hospitals
❤️‍🩹$413,778 raised that will go toward future life-saving care

We’d say that’s a success! 👏👏

Bone ingestions are one of the most common holiday emergencies our animal hospitals see. 🚨 🍗

This is your friendly reminder: no table food for pets, no matter how cute the begging eyes are. Turkey bones, rib bones, and leftover scraps can splinter, get lodged, or lead to surgery for your best friend. 🩻

We’re open 24/7 if you need us - but we’d rather you avoid the ER vet visit altogether. ❤️🐾

Whipping up something special for your furry BFF? Skip anything high in fat and stick to clean ingredients that won’t send you running to the emergency vet. Keep watching to see which ones made the safe list! 🍽️🐾

We love holiday magic - just not the emergencies that come with it. ✨🐾

Tinsel, candles, and dangling ornaments can be extra risky for curious pets.

Keep hazards out of reach, and remember: VEG ER for Pets is open 24/7 and you can always call to speak directly with a doctor if something happens. ❤️

How cold is too cold for a dog to go outside? ❄️❄️❄️ When the temperature drops, it’s a frostbite risk for dogs. 🐕‍🦺 When their body temperature is below the normal range of 101-102ºF, hypothermia can set in.

Help protect your pup in 1-2-3
1️⃣Dog boots or paw balms - protect paws 🐾 against salts and chemicals used to treat icy roads

2️⃣Dog sweaters or jackets are more than a fashion statement. They give the insulation your dog needs, especially if they are a thin-coat breed 🐩or if you have a senior dog

3️⃣Keep track of time if going out at night; temps drop quickly!

Never wait it out—bring your dog to VEG if you suspect frostbite or hypothermia. Head to the first comment to read more!

At VEG, you don’t have to be on the ER floor to help people and their pets. At VEGquarters (a.k.a. VQ) we work behind the scenes, supporting our front line heroes in many different ways—from operations and marketing to data and hospital design.

We find a way to say yes so our hospitals can do the unexpected 🌟 And yes to furry friends too; they're always welcome at VQ 🐶🐱
