I've been pretty quiet lately, trying to smash through some projects, one of them being gathering my ENTIRE inventory of carriers, cleaning them, then giving them a makeover paint job, new edge guards, a "LTR" and a number so I can remember which are mine/whi has which on loan, and the dimensions for quick reference.
Oh and they're catalogued in my laptop 😁 that way I know which is what and I don't have to go look with my eyeballs when I'm deciding who's gonna go where in what carrier, etc.
And the funny part is - I'm still missing one out on loan 😂 it'll get done eventually.

Aannnddd here we go, again! I'd complain (I'm going to anyways) about it, but it IS August in Kansas, after all. Our current humidity is "only" 50% right now, which is why the index is 107 instead of ~ 115.
The next four-ish days are gonna be electrolyte-water ice block bowl days, again. Joy. But hey, it gives me peace of mind, sooo...whatever floats the boat, right? Or whatever cools the buns, I guess?

Sometimes kits who get a rough start will rally for a bit, and then... fade out (thus the term "faders").
I took him out to feed him, after checking through the night to be sure he was warm, and... He's gone.
Another rough lesson here is: THIS is why you always 1) start out with a trio, and 2) breed more than one doe at a time if at ALL possible, especially with young, inexperienced does. It's EXCEEDINGLY difficult to hand-raise kits, for several reasons, especially if they likely didn't get any/enough colostrum from their mom, which is what I think happened here.
For context, the photo here shows the back feet. There is visible blood in the toenails, which is a sure sign it's definitely gone-gone.
Sigh. We tried, which is all we could do.

We have a house guest! A blue fawn tricolor Mini Rex, just like Flapjack ♥️.
This is Phoenix, or will be, if s/he can make it till 2.5-3 weeks old, when drinking from a dish is a possibility. Phoenix's mom had SEVEN for her first litter, and like a lot (like 70%) of first-timer moms, did not manage to keep most of them alive, which is when the humans (if they want to) have to take over.
Powdered (or canned) goat milk, and the teeny squirrel size syringe ni***es are an absolute necessity to have on hand when it's life or death, and the choice must be made with resources available right that minute. You can't wait for 2-3 days for Amazon to deliver the syringe ni***es (the kitten bottle nips are too big) if it's dehydrated and fading right *then*.

Odin The Resilient is inside (story coming soon!) because he handled the transition from Texas heat to Kansas heat just fine...except the shift from nearly no humidity to ALL of the humidity gave him pneumonia 🙃 so he's inside, IN THIS SMALL *TEMPORARY* CAGE, until I feel like he will be okay going back out. But look at this sweet, handsome, friendly boy 😭 my gosh he has my heart. I haven't loved a "working" bun like this since.... Ever? I've never EVER met a friendlier New Zealand. Ever.

Never will I ever bore of it!
Another Reserve Champion in the books! This time it was a beautiful broken chocolate polish doe out of Ash and Mudslide ♥️
All of my Polish have moved on to other homes, but I fully trust the families that have them to breed them and show them well.

Yes I'd be pretty dang proud to show her myself, but GOSH I'm telling you, the look on the kids' faces when they win is *priceless*.

TP13d won RIS at the Johnson Co Fair rabbit show ♥️ (to be clear *I* didn't show her, one of my 4-Her's did)
This REW/white doe is the last Mini Rex bred at LTR to be sold, so from now on, they'll be coming from our bestie at Shannanigans On The Ridge who has *aaahhmazing* Mini Rex!
And yes, I mean even better than some (not ALL, ok??) from LTR. I'm just saying. High-caliber stuff.
