Maushop Equestrian Center

Maushop Equestrian Center We are a quiet, welcoming horse stable located in East Falmouth where the art of horseback riding meets a passion for horsemanship. Here each student is unique.

Flexibility is the key at MEC. We try to place a student in a group where he or she will succeed. We have learned that age, experience, goals, and ability are all factors to be considered when teaching a student. With more than 20 years of teaching experience, our instructors work to place each rider into a group where they will achieve -- and build on their love of horses. Riding can be an expens

ive hobby. Maushop Equestrian Center (MEC) strives to make this special activity both fun and affordable.

Congratulations to Sophie & Thirty Seven (Phoebe) on their Heritage Dressage Association shows in June and July! 🏆🐴

They’ve been putting in the work at home, and we’re so proud of their progress. We love how organized this association is and how it gives our riders a fun way to stay motivated and keep working toward their goals.

We’re already looking forward to the next ones! 💙

In Memory of Dickens

Yesterday, Dickens told us it was his time, and he passed away peacefully, with a full belly of his favorite grain. ♥️

Born in 1989 and almost 18 hands tall, Dickens was by far the biggest and oldest horse we’ve ever had the pleasure of having at the barn. Although Dickens was only with us for a short time, we had known about him for as long as we’ve known about Valdon. It was incredibly special that these two brothers were able to meet one another—and that we got the chance to finally meet the famous Dickens, too.

We hope Dickens has been reunited with his mom and is busy telling her all about his adventures. 🐎

Our thoughts are with Jimmy and his family, as well as Dickens’ previous caretaker, Ripley, who cared for him for over 15 years and lovingly saw him through his retirement and transition to us. ❤️🐎

⭐️ STALL NOW AVAILABLE — SCHOOL HORSE OPPORTUNITY! ⭐️

We currently have one stall available for full board at our laid-back, friendly barn! 🐴

We are ideally looking for an additional school horse who could be used in our small lesson program, with compensation provided based on usage. We’d love to find a horse who enjoys having a job and would be a good fit for our program and students. That said, we are also open to a traditional full-board arrangement.

Our barn offers:
• Full board is $900/month
• Reduced board rates available depending on horse usage in our program
• Grain 2–3x/day, depending on individual needs
• Hay 3–4x/day
• All-day turnout
• 85’ x 170’ lit arena
• 56’ round pen
• Access to trails
• Small, friendly lesson program

Our lesson program runs Saturdays year-round, as well as Tuesday–Friday during the summer.

If you have a horse who might be a good fit for our program, or you’re interested in the available stall, please reach out to Sophie at 774-487-8227. We’d be happy to chat and answer any questions! 💙🐴

A huge thank you to Ashley Sylvia for capturing these wonderful photos of our riders during the Barnstable County Fair Horse Show! 📸🐴💙

As summer starts to wind down, we’re so happy to have these photos to look back on and remember such a fun day! Our riders had a blast, and we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who came out to support them.

Earlier this afternoon, Luke was peacefully laid to rest. Often called “Cow Luke,” he was estimated to be around 30 years old and had been with us for over 16 years.

He taught many people how to ride out a crow hop or buck, and he taught countless students how to trot, canter, and, in his younger days, jump. One of his favorite kids, Emma, fell in love with riding because of him. Emma loved him deeply and wished for the day she could call him hers. We knew Robin wouldn’t have sold him to just anyone, so Emma, at just 16 years old, bought him and worked hard to not only have her own horse, but her very own Luke. 💙

In his more recent years, he was leased by Lainey, who loved him and all his quirks. He was also used occasionally for beginner lessons, and we know kids like Savannah got to learn about horsemanship because of him.

Our thoughts are with Emma and the Dintino family, and everyone else who knew and loved him (and those we’re sure could share a good story about him from some sort of trail ride 🤣).

We know he is reunited with his best pals Toby, Jaxs, and Nugget, and that Nugget is watching those three boys run around in the greenest of pastures, with too many apples and bananas. 🍌🍃🍎

What an incredible day at Maushop Equestrian Center! 🐴🤎

Our very first clinic was a huge success, and we’re so grateful to everyone who came out to support us and make the day so special!

A huge thank you to Jason Drass and his team for an amazing day of learning, horsemanship, and fun. Our riders gained so much knowledge both on the ground and in the saddle, and we can’t wait to put it into practice!

A special thank you to our wonderful helpers Reen, Aubrey, Izzy 1 & Izzy 2 for all their help throughout the day. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Thank you again to everyone who participated and supported our first clinic. We’re already looking forward to hosting another one in the future! 🐎✨
