Robbie was found alone under a porch last month. Cat by Cat Inc. took him in and got him to a veterinarian where he was neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. This tiny guy weighed in at just 3 pounds, 6 ounces, and was estimated to be three months old.
I’m happy to say that this afternoon he was adopted and headed off to his new home! He will have a big cat brother and human siblings too. Congratulations Robbie 🎉
Adoption season is in full swing at Cat by Cat! Tiny Shade found her forever home with Brittany and Michael. And we're excited to announce our beautiful Sandy and Jazzy are now living over the border in Canada with Stephenie! Stephenie drove 2 1/2 hours to pick up these cuties - she said it was love at first sight ❤ Congrats!

Yesterday, we did a barn placement for three of the Batavia Cats, Albany, California and South Carolina. These girls are going to love it here. Beautiful property and wonderful people.
Barn Acclimation/Grounding takes approximately 4-6 weeks to teach these kitties this is their new home. We only do relocations as a last resort.

The entry requirements are simple: 1) Please "like" Cats & Kids: A Therapeutic Alliance," (Yes, THIS page). 2) Submit a good story about a cat that seemed--even if for a day, for a good reason--more angelic than feline. 3) Email your entry BY 8 am EST Monday June 6 2022 to [email protected]. First prize is a $75 gift card to an animal friendly company of your choice, whether a vegan cosmetics company, say, or one that donates a significant amount to animal charities. If you do animal rescue work and I can verify it, first prize is a gift certificate for a massage at a local healing center, and another gift card for $45 for either a manipedi or the local restaurant of your choice. There will also be an opportunity to receive cash beyond that if your entry is selected for inclusion in an anthology I plan to put together. Kitten Intake Day….
What a busy week we had at Cat by Cat! Our sweet senior cats - Cinder, Sandy and Brae - all found their forever homes! Cody, the handsome Burmese mix, also got adopted. But the most joyful of all adoptions was our FeLV + boy, Thomas! Thomas has been with Cat by Cat since November of 2021 and he was a volunteer favorite! Many people assume a cat with FeLV isn't worth a chance. They assume cats with this condition won't live long and are high maintenance, but that's just not the case! It broke our hearts no one was ever interested this lovebug simply because of this condition. The fact is, so many cats that are FeLV + live long and healthy lives; this is not a death sentence! Thomas and so many others like him deserve a chance. What a happy boy he was today when he found his person ❤

There are some adoptions that warm your heart and are the reasons you try so hard to help so many.
This beautiful woman is Reni and she is a young 96. Her elderly cat recently passed away and she needed companionship. She her son came for a visit and Reni beat me down the stairs into the lower level to meet our girl, Lady, a 12 year old kitty who lost her person.
It took about 3 minutes of Lady rubbing on her…. The rest is history.
We have received regular updates saying how well Lady and Reni are doing. Their favorite pastime is watching TV & napping together. 🌺

This adorable gentleman is Thomas. Thomas is a handsome two-year-old neutered tabby, who came to Cat by Cat Inc. rescue after he was found living outside braving the cold buffalo winter. Thomas is a love bug who craves attention, has a passion for wet food, and is ready to be someone’s loyal companion in a special home of his own.
Thomas is FeLV positive. FeLV is a Retrovirus, exclusive to cats, that can result in a weakened immune system. FeLV is not Transmittable to humans, dogs, or other animals, and is NOT a death sentence. In fact, FeLV positive cats like Thomas can live years and years being happy, normal, playful and loving cat companions.
FeLV is transmitted through prolonged periods of close contact, Like grooming or sharing food bowls/litter boxes with susceptible cats, such as young unvaccinated kittens or unvaccinated adult cats with medical issues.
Thomas would do best in a relaxed home as a solo cat or with another FeLV positive cat. However, there is also a vaccine for FeLV that is very effective in preventing transmission. This vaccine is a two-part series, with each vaccine given three weeks apart. This will help protect your cats who are FeLV negative.
Sweet Thomas is holding out for his hero, and not one with a cape or the ability to fly, although that would be pretty cool. the only thing his hero needs is a kind heart, some feather toys, and of course, a good supply of wet food!
Also, last week's 'Cat of the Week', Sunny, is STILL looking for her forever home.

This is one of our happiest adoptions as this took an amazing group of dedicated, passionate and loving people to make this happen. Very recently we worked with a large group of independent trappers and Kat Colony to help 62 cats living in less than desirable conditions in Batavia, NY.
This beautiful girl was named Massachusetts and was one of the first 46 cats trapped to arrive at Cat by Cat Inc. She immediately showed us, she was friendly. Our transfer partner Second Chance Sheltering Network Inc came right away to pick her up.
She was given a new name, Maizy. On Friday Ms. Maizy was adopted by this amazing woman, Kelly. The coolest is part is that Maizy is now a Canadian resident. Kelly came to meet Sunny but there was no connection. Mary Ann brought Maizy over to meet Kelly and as they say…. The rest is now history.
Happy Life sweet girl…. From Rags to Riches.
