Miss Indian Rodeo is back in her homelands of the White Mountains of Arizona, helping bring Halloween spirit and safety to the Apache children and community of the White Mountain Apache tribe . Thank you WMAT for the wonderful welcome home and opportunity to be apart of this Halloween carnival for the children and community.

The sport of rodeo is an immense blessing and tradition within Indigenous peoples’ lives and this honor I carry forward within my journey as Miss Indian Rodeo 2027.

My name is Aleisha Velasquez , my clan is Bit’ahnii born for Nadishgizhn , the Bear Clan of the White Mountain Apache . I am proud tribal member of the White Mountain Apache tribe with maternal relations to the Navajo Nation. I was raised on the Fort Apache Indian reservation within Arizona and our resilient Apache history , culture , and language shaped the person I am within and out of the arena. I look forward to representing Native America and Canada ,as Miss Indian rodeo by honoring our traditions and culture as Indigenous peoples’ through the sport of rodeo. My platform is faith over fear, inspiring our youth to be of great character within and out of the arena by honoring our culture and traditions as Native peoples’ .

Thank you , Ashoog
Aleisha Velasquez
