Saturdays, Available by Appointment Only Parker's Animal Rescue (formerly Lisa Parker's Puppies) strives to place puppies in the correct home after having them in loving foster homes where they are crate trained, work on house training, and taught basic obedience. Parker's Animal Rescue strives

to rescue, foster and find permanent loving homes for abandoned dogs and puppies in La Plata County and the rural Four Corners. The overriding principles of the organization are 1) to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering, and 2) educate pet owners on the proper stewardship and training of animals.

🚨 FOSTER NEEDED STARTING APRIL 28 🚨

We’re looking for a special foster home for a litter of 5 adorable puppies starting this Monday, April 28, for a minimum of 2 weeks!

These pups are still very young and need to stay together as a group of 5 during that time for their health and development. After 2 weeks, they'll be old enough to move into smaller groups or separate foster homes as they prepare for adoption.

Can you give them a safe, cozy place to grow for the next couple of weeks?

This sweet and affectionate girl absolutely adores people and gets along well with other dogs. She is ready to bring joy and companionship to a home that will cherish her friendly and loving nature.

A sweet and gentle soul ready to find his forever home. Cooper has a loving demeanor that makes him an instant favorite with everyone he meets.

While Cooper enjoys quiet time, he also loves to play and is always up for joining other dogs on daily adventures. Whether it’s exploring the backyard or taking a walk through the neighborhood, Cooper is happy just being part of the fun. He’s eager to learn from his humans and is already picking up some basic manners and leash skills thanks to his dedicated foster family.

🐾 Teaching Tuesday 🐾

We’ve recently heard word of a local Durango dog unfortunately being affected by blue-green algae in local water. As temperatures rise in our area, our lakes and ponds become prime spots for blue-green algae blooms, also known as cyanobacteri. These blooms can produce toxins that are extremely dangerous to dogs, leading to severe health issues or even death.

Contaminated water may look like pea soup or have a green, blue-green, or brownish film on the surface. Foam or scum around the edges of ponds and lakes can also indicate its presence.

➡️ Symptoms can appear within minutes to hours after exposure to contaminated water. Watch for…
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Seizures or muscle tremors
- Weakness or collapse
- Disorientation or confusion
- Difficulty breathing
- Excessive drooling​

➡️ Remember to…
- Keep your dog away from water that appears discolored or has visible algae.
- Do not let your dog drink from or swim in suspicious water bodies.
- Rinse your dog with clean water immediately if they come into contact with potentially contaminated water.
- Always provide fresh, clean drinking water for your dog during outings.

If you suspect your dog has been exposed to blue-green algae, seek veterinary care immediately. Early intervention is crucial.​ Stay safe and enjoy the outdoors responsibly!

Are you looking for a sunshine-loving, trail-running, stuffy-snuggling best friend? WELL, LOOK NO FURTHER than Dorothy! 💕

I’m a young gal (just over a year old!) with a heart full of love and legs ready to run, hike, explore, and maybe even roll in the grass a little. 🐕✨ I recently went on a trail run with my foster mom and it was the BEST DAY EVER. Fresh air, good company, and the wind in my ears? Yes, please!

But don’t worry—I’ve got a soft side too. After all that adventuring, I loooove to curl up with my favorite stuffy (or even better, you) for a cozy nap. 💛

I’m working hard on my basic manners and leash skills—I’m a smart cookie who just needs a little guidance from a kind human to help me keep learning!

🐾 A Message From Us Pups in Need… 🐾

Hi there, human friends. We know this might be a long shot, but we really need your help. Right now, there are 8 of us — five tiny babies and three sweet adult gals — all dreaming of a soft temporary place to land.

Here’s our situation…

🐶 We’re a litter of 5 pups, about 4.5 to 5 weeks old. We don’t have a mama, and we’re still too young to be adopted. We just need a cozy foster home for about 3 weeks while we grow big and strong.

🐶 One of us is a beautiful little pocket pittie, and wow — she’s the sweetest! She loves other dogs, but cats? Not her thing. She’s still hoping someone will see how special she is.

🐶 Another girl is just 6 months old and already on the petite side! She’s gentle, loving, and ready to be someone’s little sidekick.

🐶 And then there’s Cherry — she’s about 11 months old and 30 pounds of kindness. She gets along great with people and pups and might be okay with cats too! She’s patient, polite, and so deserving of a warm place to call home.
