Some dogs have big personalities. Some dogs have big hearts.

Ducky somehow has both. 💙🐥

At 2.5 years old and about 46 pounds, Ducky is the kind of dog who makes himself at home in your heart almost immediately. He loves being near his people, whether that means joining you for a walk, hanging out in the yard, lounging in the sunshine, or curling up next to you on the couch for some quality cuddle time.

His foster describes him as affectionate, attentive, goofy, and eager to please. He's the type of dog who genuinely wants to be part of the family and seems happiest when he's spending time with the people he loves.

Ducky also enjoys playing with other dogs and has a fun, playful side that comes out once he settles in and gets comfortable. He strikes a wonderful balance between cheerful co-pilot and couch companion. The only thing he asks for is a home without cats.

If you've been looking for a loyal best friend with a sweet soul and a face that's impossible to say no to, Ducky might just be your guy. 🥹

If you're interested in meeting Ducky to see if it's a good match, we start all inquiry processes with an adoption application! Get started by clicking the link in our bio or visiting parkersanimalrescue.com/forms.

💙 Meet Moss! 💙

At just 8 weeks old, Moss is already proving himself to be quite the little lovebug.

This sweet boy is incredibly affectionate and absolutely lights up when his people wake up in the morning or come home. He loves being close — whether that means cuddling in your lap, snoozing on a chair nearby, or finding the highest cozy spot he can claim for himself.

His foster describes him as a total shadow puppy. Moss loves following his people around and seems especially interested in building strong bonds with his humans. He's also becoming more curious and adventurous every day, happily exploring the world with a little encouragement and reassurance from the people he trusts.

Moss has been sleeping great overnight and has such a lovely, easygoing personality. He seems like the kind of puppy who will happily match the energy of his family — ready for adventures when it's time to play and ready for snuggles when it's time to relax.

We can't wait to watch this special little guy continue to grow! 🐾

Curious about an animal’s breed or adult-size?
We choose not to guess the breed(s) of our adoptable pups, as we can never be certain without an official DNA test. For this reason, we also can’t guarantee any dog to be a particular size/weight when fully grown. If you’d prefer a pup whose adult size is known, we have many amazing adult and near-adult dogs looking for homes too!

🐾 Teaching Tuesday 🐾

This is your friendly reminder that raisins (and grapes!) are toxic to dogs. 🍇

We know it sounds like one of those random things that couldn’t possibly be a big deal, but even small amounts can cause serious kidney damage in some dogs — and unfortunately, there’s no way to predict which dogs will be affected.

This time of year, we especially like to remind people to keep an eye on trail mix, granola, snack bags, lunchboxes, and hiking packs. Raisins have a sneaky way of showing up in places you might not think about, and a dropped handful on the trail or floor can disappear into a dog's mouth faster than you can say, "What do you have?!"

If your dog ever gets into raisins or grapes, contact your vet or an emergency veterinary clinic right away. It's always better to be safe than sorry. 💙

At just 4.5 months old and 26 pounds, Olive is already winning hearts everywhere she goes. This happy-go-lucky girl loves people of all ages, enjoys the company of other dogs, and seems to approach life with a wagging tail and a smile on her face. Things Rosie Has Strong Opinions About…

💙 Being included.

That’s really it.

Rosie would like to be included in whatever you’re doing, whenever you’re doing it.

Watching TV? She’ll join you.
Working from home? She’ll be your assistant.
Going for a walk? Perfect.
Taking a nap? Even better.

At just 1.5 years old, Rosie is the kind of dog who makes a house feel more like home. She’s affectionate, people-oriented, and happiest when she’s near her favorite humans. She loves toys, enjoys learning new things, and has a sweet, easygoing way of making herself part of the family.

Her foster family says she’s been a joy to have around, and it’s easy to see why. Rosie has that special ability to make ordinary moments feel a little brighter simply by being there.

Now all she needs is a family of her own to share those moments with. 🐾

If you’re interested in meeting Rosie, we start all inquiry processes with an adoption application! Get started by clicking the link in our bio or visiting https://parkersanimalrescue.com/forms.

🎉 Happy Adoption Sunday! 🎉

The best kind of news!! 🤍 Carlos, Sunny, and Robin have officially joined their forever families, and we couldn’t be happier for them or more grateful to the adopters who saw just how special they each are.

Carlos' adoption feels especially full circle. His adopters are longtime members of the PAR family, having adopted their beloved Ginger from us back in 2015. After recently saying goodbye to Ginger, they found their way to Carlos, and we’re so honored to have been part of both chapters of their journey. 💙

A huge thank you to their incredible fosters, Liz, Laura, Danielle, and Megan, for giving them so much love, stability, and care while they waited for this moment. 🐾

And to our organizational sponsors — Creature Comforts, Title Durango, Durango Motor Company, Star Liquors, and Alpine Bank — thank you for helping make stories like these possible.

Everyone sees that Nutmeg is blind...

What they don’t see right away is how incredibly EASY she is. 🩵

Nutmeg isn't looking for mountain adventures, marathon hikes, or a busy social calendar. She's looking for a comfy spot to nap, a little sunshine, a few backyard strolls, and someone to hang out with.

At 10 years old, Nutmeg has truly mastered the art of taking it easy. She spends her days lounging, sunbathing, following her people from room to room, and enjoying life's simple pleasures. She’s calm, adaptable, and content just being part of whatever you're doing.

Yes, Nutmeg is blind. But honestly? She’s already figured out how to be Nutmeg.

She learns spaces quickly, navigates her foster home with confidence, settles beautifully in her crate, walks nicely on leash, and approaches each day with a positive attitude that’s impossible not to admire.

Sometimes it feels like people see her diagnosis before they see her.

But Nutmeg isn't a complicated dog. She’s a sweet, easygoing couch potato who wants companionship, routine, and a soft place to land.

And she’s really, really good at being loved. 💙

If you’re interested in meeting Nutmeg to see if it’s a good match, we start all inquiry processes with an adoption application! Get started by clicking the link in our bio or visiting https://parkersanimalrescue.com/forms.

✨ Success Story Saturday ✨

Some dogs are meant to be friends. Bogey and Birdie are proof of that. 💙🐾

Bogey joined Kayden's family five years ago through PAR, and a year later, Birdie arrived as a foster who never left. (The best kind of foster failure if you ask us!)

Since then, these two have become inseparable. Whether they're exploring the neighborhood, making new friends, or simply keeping each other company, they're happiest when they're together.

Kayden shared, "They are striving and thriving and are the best of friends. They are neighborhood celebrities with their 'little' and 'big' personalities."

We absolutely love hearing updates like this. Seeing not one, but two PAR alumni living their best lives together is what rescue is all about. Thank you, Kayden, for giving both Bogey and Birdie such a wonderful home — and for sharing their unique personalities with everyone lucky enough to meet them! 💛

🚨 Our dog kennels and puppy pens are full. Completely, heartbreakingly full. And they just keep coming.

We need help right now, despite our most agile and creative team utilizing every resource, program, and square inch of space. Piles of puppies haven’t been with us long enough to transfer to Colorado yet — state law requires two DAPP vaccines before they can go — so they are here available for adoption while space keeps disappearing. We have wonderful adult dogs of every breed and size and temperament scanning every face that walks by, hoping this is finally their person.

We are also in a foster crisis moment, and even our staff members’ own homes are overflowing with foster babies. If you can’t locate our foster team, just stop and listen for the office space that mews, because each of them travels with boxes of bottle babies. Litters of underage self-feeding kittens are in kennels waiting for foster and they do not need much — just a small corner of your home, a warm place to sleep, food in tiny bowls, and a few weeks to grow big enough for adoption. We have dogs in our prison foster program and dogs in paid boarding waiting for someone to choose them. And this morning, we arrived to take in six two-week-old puppies after being cruelly abandoned in a box and a tiny, tiny kitten somehow left alone in a parking lot.

Adopt. Foster. Share. Say yes to one animal. Tell a friend. Open a spare room, a bathroom, a laundry room, a quiet corner in a kennel. Right now there are too many paws, too many hopeful eyes, and not enough space.

‼️PS: we offer FREE spay and neuter surgeries to the entire state of New Mexico. Call 505-753-8662 ext 2 to schedule. Surgery appointment also includes free microchip and free vaccines!

🐾 To foster: apply on our website and email [email protected]

🐾 To adopt: we are open to walk-in adopters Monday-Saturday 11am-4:30pm. For pets offsite in foster care, prison programs, our Puppy Patch at Ojo Santa Fe, or in boarding, please submit an application on our website to schedule a meet up. We also have cats available at the Santa Fe Cat Cafe, no appointment needed!
