Parker's Animal Rescue (formerly Lisa Parker's Puppies) strives to place puppies in the correct home after having them in loving foster homes where they are crate trained, work on house training, and taught basic obedience. Parker's Animal Rescue strives

to rescue, foster and find permanent loving homes for abandoned dogs and puppies in La Plata County and the rural Four Corners. The overriding principles of the organization are 1) to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering, and 2) educate pet owners on the proper stewardship and training of animals. Rosie and Cider are HOME!! And we couldn’t be happier. 🥹 Watching them head off into lives full of love, comfort, and adventure is everything!

A huge thank you to their amazing fosters — Kim, Kris, Bagheera, and Spruce — for giving them such a strong, loving start. You helped shape these girls into the dogs their families fell in love with! 💙

These two sweet boys at a nearby shelter have quickly become the favorites of shelter staff AND our ED, Lisa!

Tango (brown) and Cash (black and white) are dog friendly, people friendly, very happy-go-lucky, know some basic commands, and are both neutered and ready to go!

These two NEED OUT this week -- and they do not have to go together!

Meet our newest little storybook trio... Smokey Bear, Paddy Paddington & Winnie Pooh! 🥹

At just 9 weeks old and 8–11 pounds each, these three tiny bears are officially ready to begin the very best chapter yet: finding their forever homes. 💛

🐻 Smokey Bear — male
🧸 Paddy Paddington — female
🍯 Winnie Pooh — female

And the timing couldn’t be better, because all three will be making their PAR debut at our “Littles” Adoption Event TOMORROW!

Come meet Smokey, Paddy, Winnie, and all of our current adoptable puppies in one adorable place. Fair warning: there will be a LOT of tiny paws, puppy breath, and very convincing little faces asking to come home with you. 😌

These two male pups have been at the Aztec Animal Shelter since early June -- and they have quickly become the favorites of shelter staff AND our ED, Lisa!

☀️ Teaching Tuesday ☀️

It has been HOT lately! And hot pavement can turn a fun walk into a painful one faster than you might think.

Asphalt and concrete absorb heat throughout the day and can become much hotter than the air temperature. Even on an 85°F day, pavement can reach temperatures capable of burning a dog's paw pads in under a minute.

Before heading out, try the 7-second test...
Place the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws!!

A few easy ways to keep your pup safe:
1. Walk early in the morning or later in the evening.
2. Stick to grass or shaded trails whenever possible.
3. Bring water and take plenty of breaks.
4. Consider protective booties if you'll be on hot surfaces.

Our dogs trust us to make these decisions for them. A simple check before your walk can save them from a painful injury and keep your summer adventures happy!
