Super urgent!! GA, Dekalb County "Donco" Deaf Snuggle Bug Genetic Eye Condition

Age: ~2 years old (estimated by shelter as stray intake)
Weight: 42 pounds
Any medical info: Deaf, genetic eye condition where eyelashes grow inward (we are medical fostering him and he is all cleared from his surgery), healing Happy Tail

Temperament: Dog-friendly per the shelter as he goes to playgroup (slow intros advised), cat possible (has gotten close enough to our cat to sniff and no signs of aggression but would still do slow intros), and kids-unknown (we have a 3.5 and a 17 month old (he has seen them and is aware of them but unsure if he like them).

He loves grown people, playing fetch, SO easy on a leash (until he sees a person in the distance or gets startled and then her pulls some and barks). We are working on potty training and he’s slowly getting better and having less accidents. He likes to snuggle in bed but we have him sleeping in his crate more than bed for crate rest. He is such a sweetheart that just needs his people to trust and show him the world isn’t as scary as he thinks being deaf.

Our intention was to medical foster him through recovery and give him a few extra days out of the shelter to be a normal dog. We have had him for 9 dates and he will go back to the shelter next weekend at some point (likely Saturday). We would love to find a foster takeover, rescue, or even better an adopter before that point.

I have a friend that is a photographer that will be taking sole professional photos of him this Wednesday!

DONATE those old towel and sheets! DM me here or at 561-718-1148 With cold temperatures like we're seeing this week, it's important to remember your pet's fur coat and paw pads aren't enough to keep them warm.

🎄🐾 Jax & Shultzy Need Us 🐾🎄

This Christmas photo breaks our hearts a little more than most.
Jax and Shultzy have been staying with us while their mom underwent surgery — something she had done before, something that was meant to be temporary. She boarded them with us just like she always did… for a few nights, and then she’d come right back for her boys.

But this time, she never did. 💔

Their mom unexpectedly passed away during surgery. She was a middle-aged woman, and her loss was sudden and devastating. These two sweet boys don’t understand what’s happening. They’re still waiting. Still expecting her to walk through the door like she always has.

Now, Jax and Shultzy are left without their person, without their home, and without the only life they’ve ever known.

We are begging and pleading for someone to open their heart to these boys — whether through a foster home or a forever home. They deserve stability, love, and comfort while they process this loss.

Our greatest hope is to keep them together, as they are each other’s comfort right now. But above all else, we want them safe, loved, and cared for — even if that means separating them to find the right homes.

If you can foster, adopt, or even help by sharing this post, please reach out. These boys didn’t lose their mom by choice… and they shouldn’t have to lose everything else too.

Please help us find Jax & Shultzy the love they so desperately need. 💛🐶🐶
