A lot of clients have been asking my recommendations for a brush, so I wanted to share a budget-friendly option for BOTH a slicker brush and metal comb! 🐾
You definitely don’t have to spend $50+ on a brush to properly maintain your dog’s coat at home. The most important part is how you’re brushing.
For longer, curly, or doodle-type coats, I recommend line brushing. Instead of just brushing over the top of the coat, separate the hair into small sections so you can see the skin, then brush each section from the skin all the way to the ends. Work your way through the coat one section at a time. This helps prevent those sneaky mats that form underneath while the top of the coat still looks perfectly brushed.
And this part is SO important:
✨ Always check your work with a metal comb!
Once you’re finished brushing, run the comb through from the skin to the ends. If the comb catches or gets stuck, that area isn’t completely brushed out yet. Go back over it with your slicker and check again. If the comb glides through easily, you’re good!
