Update: Merlin will be leaving the shelter for a foster-based rescue partner!

14-year-old Merlin tragically lost his home through no fault of his, or his owner. We found very quickly that Merlin is diabetic and have started a special diet for him. Merlin has ignored other animals and is quite affectionate with staff. Now we are looking for a retirement home that can help Merlin by managing his disease and giving him a soft, comfortable place to spend his senior years.

Can that soft, comfortable place be with you?

Poland deploys drones with thermal cameras to detect chained dogs and take action against possible neglect cases. 🐕🚁

Authorities in Poland are using advanced drone technology to identify situations where dogs may be kept chained in conditions that violate animal welfare laws. Equipped with thermal imaging and high-zoom cameras, these drones can detect body heat and monitor environments, even at night.

Officials say this allows inspectors to evaluate whether dogs have enough space and proper living conditions as required by regulations. When violations are suspected, recorded footage supports further inspections and enforcement actions carried out by authorities.

This approach reflects a broader shift toward proactive monitoring in animal protection efforts. Supporters believe it helps prevent neglect before it worsens, while also encouraging better care standards. It shows how technology is being used to strengthen enforcement of animal welfare laws.
