🎓DENVER GRADUATED! 🩵🐾

This sweet little guy has worked SO hard over the last two weeks. Denver came to me needing more structure, confidence, and better tools for navigating the world around him. I’m incredibly proud of the progress he’s made. He’s leaving more calm, more obedient, and most importantly, learning to look to his handler for direction instead of taking it upon himself to react. Denver is still Denver. I didn’t try to change who he is; we gave him a stronger foundation and clearer communication to help him feel more successful. Now it’s time for his family to take that foundation and keep building. 🤍

Congratulations, Denver! You amazing! It was especially hard letting this sweet boy leave us. 🥹🎓🐾

Waffles worked on DPT, public access, and one of the most underrated service dog skills; simply settling while the world keeps moving around her. 🧇🩷 A down-stay through checkout might not look impressive, but this is where reliable public access starts. Amazing work Waffle girl! ✨

Can we stop treating service dog vests like all-access passes for pets? 🙃 If your dog is barking, lunging, reacting to other dogs, or cannot remain under control in public, a vest doesn’t magically make that behavior appropriate. Today Jovie got some unexpected practice ignoring exactly that.
Fake and poorly behaved “service dogs” don’t just make legitimate handlers look bad; they can put actual working teams at risk.

Happy Graduation, Buddy! 🎓🐾

Buddy worked SO hard during his stay, and it shows! This sweet boy has become calmer, more focused, and so much more confident in his obedience. He’s leaving with an amazing sit stay, down stay, place command, and a much better ability to settle and work through distractions. So incredibly proud of you, Buddy! 💜 You put in the work; now it’s time to show your family everything you’ve learned when you get home. 🥹🐾 Congratulations, Buddy! 🎓✨

The art of doing nothing. 🤍

Not every training session needs to be filled with commands, corrections, or constant movement. Sometimes one of the most valuable things we can teach a dog is simply how to exist in the world without feeling like they have to react to it. Tonight, Denver and I sat by the ball field and did… nothing (except cheer my baby boy Jesse on) 🩵😉. People walked by. Kids ran around. There were noises, movement, smells, and plenty of things he could have worried about and reacted to. I wasn’t asking him to show off fancy skills; I am giving him the opportunity to watch, process, and learn that the world can happen around him without anything being expected of him. For nervous, excitable, or easily overstimulated dogs, this kind of neutral exposure is SO valuable. Confidence isn’t always built by convincing a dog to interact with something scary. Sometimes it’s built by being with someone who will advocate for him.

Training the off switch is training, too. And sometimes doing nothing accomplishes a whole lot more than constantly pushing a dog. 🤍🐾
