When taking your own medications, make sure your pet is not under your feet in case you drop a pill! There are many medications that are toxic to our pets. Each one causes different symptoms. If your pet is painful, do not use over the counter pain medications, such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen. These can be toxic to your pet and cause GI irritation!

Happy Veterinary Technician Week! 🐾🩺

This week, we want to recognize and celebrate Kayttie, our future veterinary technician! Kayttie is currently attending the Veterinary Technology program at Kent State Tuscarawas and is set to graduate this spring! After graduation, she’ll take her national examination to earn her veterinary technician license and obtain state licensure. We have no doubt she’ll pass with flying colors!

Kayttie is intelligent, compassionate, and hardworking, and we are so lucky to have her as part of our team! We’re proud of all she’s accomplishing and can’t wait to see her reach this exciting milestone. Best of luck with your final two semesters, Kayttie, and thank you for everything you do! 💐

Vet techs play a vital role in your pet’s health and well-being, wearing many hats throughout each visit. From triage and client education to anesthesia monitoring, collecting and analyzing laboratory samples, taking X-rays, carrying out treatment protocols, preparing medications, and ensuring patients are safe, comfortable, and well cared for, veterinary technicians do it all!

Beyond their technical skills, vet techs provide comfort, compassion, and affection to every patient, treating your pets like their own. Their dedication makes a world of difference in the lives of the animals they care for every day.

A huge thank-you to Kayttie and all veterinary technicians for the knowledge, hard work, and compassionate care you bring to the profession. You make a difference every single day! 🐾💕

Today is National Pet Obesity Awareness Day! 🐾

Pets at their ideal weight tend to live longer and healthier lives. Obesity puts your pet at risk for diabetes, joint disease, high blood pressure, and even cancer. When looking at your pet, they should have a visible waist and belly tuck. You should be able to easily feel ribs, without a layer of fat over them. If your pet is losing their shape and you're having to push in to find ribs, they are overweight. Small changes in diet and exercise can get them back to a healthy weight!
