Attention small dog lovers!! We just received 4 tiny little pups from a family that needed help. They are 6 weeks old and Momma is a Chihuahua. The family is keeping Mom and getting her spayed so all that's left is finding each of them loving forever homes. They have already received their first shots, started dewormer and have been given flea medication.
Please share so we can get them in a home today!

Update!! Dylan is on an adoption trial!

Meet Dylan! 🐾 Dylan is a handsome Great Dane mix and he is looking for a foster or forever home. He's incredibly dog-friendly and, once he gets to know you, he'll become your loyal best friend.

Dylan is a goofy, sweet boy with a big heart. New people, places, and experiences can be a little scary for him, so he's looking for a patient family that's willing to help him build confidence at his own pace. With kindness, consistency, and love, Dylan continues to blossom and show his fun, affectionate personality.

If you're looking for a gentle companion and are willing to give him the time he needs to feel safe, Dylan will reward you with endless love and companionship❤️🐶

🐾 From the Director's Desk... Every Story Deserves to Be Told. ❤️

Last night, our community celebrated something incredible.

We celebrated second chances.

But behind every adoption... every foster... every rescue... is a story.

Tonight, I thought I'd tell you mine.

Long before I had the privilege of serving as Director of Bayou Animal Services, I was a foster for another local shelter.

One day, I brought home two tiny little sisters from League City Animal Shelter.

Their names were Emma and Addy.

Addy was a superstar from day one. She loved everyone she met and soaked up every bit of attention she could find. It didn't take long before she found her forever family.

Emma... well...

Emma had a slightly different approach to meeting new people. 😂

Let's just say her official greeting was somewhere between "Absolutely not" and "I will choose violence."

At adoption events, people would walk over to meet the puppies, and Addy would be saying, "Hi! Pick me!"

Emma was busy convincing everyone to keep walking.

But at home...

She was a completely different dog.

She adored our two big dogs, Zeus and Kooper. Especially Zeus.

We actually called him Uncle Do Do, and Emma was absolutely convinced he was put on this earth just for her.

She followed him everywhere, tucked safely beneath his belly like a little fish swimming alongside a whale. If Uncle Do Do moved... Woo Woo moved.

When Addy was adopted, something became very clear.

You couldn't separate Emma and Uncle Do Do.

So we didn't.

We made it official.

Her government name is Emma Lou, but around our house she's simply Woo Woo.

Today she's six years old, loves everyone she meets, and has become the dog we always knew she could be.

It's funny how life works.

The puppy who once threatened to fight anyone who looked at her...

Now believes every stranger is a friend she just hasn't met yet.

That's why I love this work.

Because every animal has a story.

Some are heartbreaking.

Some are hilarious.

Some are still being written.

And every single one deserves to be told.

❤️ Now I want to hear yours.

Show us your rescue!

Whether they came from Bayou Animal Services, another shelter, a rescue organization, or simply wandered into your life when you needed each other most...

We want to meet them.

📸 Share a picture in the comments and tell us:
🐾 Their name
🐾 How they became part of your family
🐾 What makes them so special

Tell us the whole story.

Because every rescue has one...
..and every story deserves to be told. ❤️🐾

🏆 Last night was about so much more than an award.

Last night, Bayou Animal Services was honored to accept recognition from Best Friends Animal Society for achieving No-Kill status.

While our team is incredibly proud, we know this recognition doesn't belong to us alone.

It belongs to an entire community that chose life.

It belongs to every family who adopted a shelter pet.

Every volunteer who gave their time.

Every foster who opened their home.

Every rescue partner who said "yes."

Every veterinarian who helped heal an animal in need.

Every donor who believed in second chances.

Every member of Bayou Friends Forever who has worked tirelessly to support lifesaving programs.

And every City leader who believed our shelter could become something more.

This recognition represents countless second chances.

It represents injured animals who received medical care instead of being forgotten.

Families reunited with beloved pets.

Shy dogs who learned to trust.

Tiny kittens who grew up in foster homes instead of cages.

Animals who found the loving homes they always deserved.

No-kill isn't about reaching a number.

It's about building a community where healthy, treatable, and rehabilitatable animals are given every reasonable opportunity to live.

And that's exactly what Dickinson has done.

To our staff, volunteers, fosters, Bayou Friends Forever, veterinary partners, rescue organizations, City Council, City leadership, and every citizen who has supported our mission...

Thank you.

This award may have Bayou Animal Services' name on it...
..but it belongs to all of us. ❤️🐾

💙🐾 Kindness Comes in Small Packages... and Sometimes It Comes with Lemonade! 🍋

Today, we were reminded that you are never too young to make a difference.

These two incredible young ladies spent their time making beautiful jewelry, setting up a lemonade stand, and working hard to raise money for the animals at Bayou Animal Services.

Because of their big hearts and generosity, they donated more than $200 to help care for the homeless pets in our shelter.

Think about that for a moment.

They could have spent their summer doing anything, but instead they chose to help animals they may never even meet.

That kind of compassion gives us so much hope for the future.

To these sweet girls, and to their family for encouraging such kindness, thank you. Your generosity will help provide food, medical care, comfort, and second chances for the animals who need us most.

We are honored that you chose Bayou Animal Services, and we know every tail wag and happy purr that comes from your gift is because you cared enough to help.

❤️ The future is bright with kids like these leading the way.

Thank you for reminding us that no act of kindness is ever too small to change a life.

One of our staff members took Lizzie home for the night, and we learned so much about her in just one evening in a foster home!🐾
Lizzie is incredibly playful and loves being around other dogs. She also did great with cats and was very respectful of their boundaries, giving them space when they let her know they needed it.
She did well in her kennel, with just a little whining at first, but settled in nicely. Lizzie absolutely adores people and truly hasn't met a stranger. She had one accident in the house, so she'll likely just need a little supervision while she adjusts to living in a home.
The best part? Her tail never seemed to stop wagging! She was so happy the entire time, it felt like she was probably wagging it in her sleep, too. Between play sessions with the other dogs, Lizzie loved rolling around in the grass and soaking up every moment.❤️
After just one night, it's easy to see that Lizzie is a happy, loving girl who's ready to bring so much joy to her future family.
Lizzie is available for both foster and adoption! Even if you can't commit to adopting right now, fostering truly makes a difference. Sometimes just a few days in a home can help a dog decompress, learn new routines, and show us their wonderful personality. If you have room in your home and heart, we'd love for you to meet Lizzie!

🏆 You're Invited to Celebrate With Us! 🐾

Tomorrow evening, Bayou Animal Services will be recognized by Best Friends Animal Society for achieving No-Kill status—and we'd love to celebrate this incredible milestone with the community that made it possible.

This recognition isn't just about our shelter.

It's about every adopter who opened their home.

Every volunteer who gave their time.

Every foster family who said "yes."

Every rescue partner, donor, veterinarian, and supporter who believed that together, we could save more lives.

Because of this community, more animals are finding loving homes than ever before.

We would be honored to have you join us as we accept this award on behalf of everyone who helped make it possible.

❤️ Tomorrow Is Going to Be a Big Day... and We Could Really Use You.

There are seasons in animal sheltering that test you.

This is one of them.

Tomorrow morning, our team will unlock the doors knowing there are 48 cats waiting for them.

Forty-eight little lives that need breakfast.

Fresh water.

Clean kennels.

Medication.

Laundry.

Comfort.

A gentle hand.

A few extra minutes of love.

We are officially over capacity for cats, and our dog kennels are filling up just as quickly.

Our Animal Control Officers have been working tirelessly, answering calls throughout our community and bringing in animals that have nowhere else to go. Injured animals. Abandoned pets. Lost family members. Animals who desperately needed someone to say, "We'll take it from here."

And we always will.

But tomorrow...

Our shelter staff will be carrying that promise.

They'll be cleaning cages.

Giving medications.

Doing laundry.

Preparing meals.

Walking dogs.

Comforting frightened animals.

Answering phones.

Helping families.

And somehow, they'll still find time to stop and scratch a chin, toss a toy, or whisper, "You're safe now."

Because that's who they are.

But they can't do it alone.

If you've ever wondered whether one person can make a difference...

Tomorrow is your answer.

An hour of your time means a staff member gets to catch their breath.

A clean kennel means a kitten stays healthy.

A walk means a dog gets out to stretch their legs.

A cuddle means a scared animal remembers that people can be kind.

You don't have to know everything about animal sheltering.

You just have to care.

Our team starts at 8:00 AM, and we'd love to have you join us whenever you can. Whether you can stay for an hour or spend the morning with us, your help will make a difference for both the animals and the people caring for them.
