💛🐾 TODAY MATTERS: $20 ADOPTIONS + VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 💛🐾

Yesterday brought us so much joy — animals we’ve loved and cared for finally went home, kennels opened up, and hope flowed through this building in a way we desperately needed. But we aren’t done yet.

Today, we’re continuing $20 adoptions because every single pet that leaves our shelter means so much more than just an empty kennel. It means:
✨ A dog or cat sleeping in a warm home instead of a loud, stressful kennel
✨ One less animal our small staff has to worry about
✨ A community coming together to lift the weight off our shoulders
✨ More space for the animals out there who still need us
✨ A chance for our team to breathe during one of the busiest times of the year

Every adoption is a ripple of relief — for the animal, for the staff, and for our entire shelter family.
If you’ve been thinking about adopting, today truly, genuinely makes a difference.

We’re closed Thursday and Friday for the holiday,
but our staff still arrives at 8 AM —
quiet building, doors locked, hands in cold water, doing the work that never stops.

They will be here, cleaning, feeding, and comforting the animals…
before going home to their own families, hours later than they should.

If volunteers can come tomorrow morning — even just for a little while —
you will help our team get home sooner to be with the people they love.
That gift means more than you know.

Walk a dog. Scoop a kennel. Fold towels. Anything.
Just showing up would make all the difference.

🐾💚 SNIFFARI SUPERSTARS: A WHOLE NEW LEVEL OF AMAZING 💚🐾

We have some incredible news to share — because sometimes the good is just too good to keep in.

Our Sniffari Guides have quietly, passionately, and completely on their own… expanded Sniffari into something incredible.

What started as a Sunday enrichment program has now grown into:
✨ Sniffari on Saturdays AND Sundays
✨ Daily afternoon walks, where volunteers come in at 3 PM and walk every single dog before heading home at 5

No reminders.
No begging.
Just heart.

Because of these amazing humans:
🦮 Every dog gets meaningful outdoor time
🌤️ Stress levels are dropping
🧼 Staff walk into far fewer messes
🐾 Dogs are calmer, happier, and more adoptable

These are the people who show up week after week, rain or shine, wearing the Sniffari aprons and leashes provided through the Best Friends Animal Society grant — a perfect example of donor dollars at work.

Some of our OG Sniffari Guides are pictured here (a few missing!), but ALL of them are the reason this program has grown into something truly life-changing for our dogs.

✨🎄 HAPPY TAILS: HANNAH’S HOLIDAY MIRACLE 🎄✨

Some stories feel like pure holiday magic… and tiny Hannah’s is one of them.

Hannah came to us on November 5th, barely clinging to life. She was dangerously dehydrated, anemic, and overrun with parasites that were stealing every bit of nutrition from her little body. We honestly didn’t know if she’d make it.

But then Leah, our Shelter Services Coordinator, stepped into full save mode — fluids, medications, warmth, food, and nonstop care. Slowly, Hannah started to fight back.

And then came her foster home, where she blossomed. From a fragile, trembling kitten to a bright-eyed, playful little girl… she truly transformed.

And today…
Hannah was adopted into her forever family.
Just look at that photo — snuggled in safe, adored, and exactly where she was always meant to be.

This is what your support makes possible.
This is what “it takes a village” looks like.
Tiny lives saved, one miracle at a time.

🖤✨ HAPPY TAILS: SHADOW IS HOME ✨🖤

Some stories stay with you forever — and Shadow’s is one of them.

Shadow came to us needing urgent medical care. What was supposed to be a routine neuter turned into an emergency when our vet discovered traumatic internal injuries. His intestines had to be put back into place, and without immediate treatment, he wouldn’t have survived.

But Shadow fought hard… and YOU fought for him.
Your donations to our STAR Program helped cover the cost of his lifesaving surgery. Your shares, your prayers, your support — they carried him through every step.

And today…
Shadow walked out of Bayou Animal Services with his FOREVER FAMILY.
No more pain. No more fear. Just love, comfort, and a lifetime of safety ahead of him.

Seeing him pose for this Happy Tails picture — strong, healed, and ready for his new beginning — is the kind of moment that reminds us why we do this. 🔴 WE ARE AT CAPACITY — AND OUR DOGS NEED YOU NOW 🔴

Tonight, 50 dogs will fall asleep in a full shelter…
even though so many of them are dreaming of a family of their own.

Bayou Animal Services is officially AT CAPACITY, and with Thanksgiving just days away, we are begging — truly begging — for help.
Our team is exhausted. Our kennels are full. And our dogs are waiting… waiting for someone to choose them.

Because after Wednesday, our doors close for the holiday.

🦃💛 Thanksgiving Hours & A Special Invitation 💛🦃

Bayou Animal Services will be closed to the public this Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving so our team can spend a little extra time with their families.

But behind the scenes, the work never stops —
our animals still need breakfast, clean spaces, meds, and a little love to start their day right.

Our staff will be here at 8:00 AM both mornings, and we could use a few extra helping hands.
Volunteers, this is a wonderful chance to jump in — even for an hour — to help the animals and help our staff get home sooner to their own families.

🍂 And if you’ve ever wanted to experience Sniffari… this is the perfect time!
Come walk a dog, explore our enrichment trails, and give our pups an amazing start to their holiday morning. It’s calming, rewarding, and a beautiful way to give back on Thanksgiving.

🌼 Reba’s Heartfelt Plea for a Soft Place to Land

This beautiful girl is Reba, and at 6 years and 9 months old, she has a heart that has seen a lot… and still chooses to love.

When you sit with Reba, she leans her whole body into you — like she’s saying, “Thank you for being here. I’ve been waiting for someone like you.”
And that tiny yellow flower on her head? She let us place it there because she trusts us… and because she genuinely just wants to make people smile.

Our tiny holiday miracle, Jingle Bean, jingled his way straight into the BEST forever home — the same amazing family who adopted Captain Crunch about a year ago! 🥣💙

From the moment they met him, it was clear he belonged with them. Captain Crunch now has a little brother, and Jingle Bean has a family who adores him already.
