Bayou Animal Services is currently seeking volunteer groomers willing to donate their time and talents to help several dogs in our care.

Professional grooming is about so much more than appearance.

For many shelter dogs, grooming provides comfort, relief, improved mobility, and a fresh start on their journey toward recovery and adoption.

Whether you are a professional groomer, grooming instructor, student groomer, or grooming salon owner, we would love to hear from you.

Imagine you walk into Bayou Animal Services tomorrow.

You have room in your home, room in your heart, and room on your couch...

But you can only take one.

🐶 The senior dog who just wants a soft bed.

🐱 The shy cat who needs someone patient.

🐾 The puppy who has never known a family.

❤️ The dog who's been overlooked for months.

You don't know their story.

You don't know their name.

You only know that if you don't choose them, they'll spend another night in a shelter.

Who do you pick?

The truth is, every day our adopters make this impossible choice.

And every day, one lucky animal gets to leave while others wait for their turn.

🐾 EVERY KENNEL HAS A STORY 🐾

When people walk through our shelter, they see kennels.

We see stories.

A puppy found alone on the side of the road.

A kitten recovering from surgery.

A senior dog whose entire world changed overnight.

A stray waiting for the family that may still be looking for them.

A frightened animal learning to trust again.

Every kennel holds a story.

Some stories are heartbreaking.

Some are inspiring.

Some are still being written.

This week alone, we have welcomed animals who needed medical care, animals who needed a safe place to land, and animals who simply needed someone willing to give them a chance.

We have celebrated adoptions.

We have reunited pets with their families.

We have watched fosters step forward when animals needed them most.

We have watched volunteers donate their time, rescue partners say "yes," and supporters answer the call when help was needed.

Behind every kennel door is an animal hoping for the same thing:

A family.

A home.

A second chance.

The truth is that shelters do not save animals alone.

Communities do.

Every adoption creates space.

Every foster home changes a life.

Every volunteer makes a difference.

Every donation helps us say "yes" to the next animal that needs us.

Tonight, as you scroll through social media, we hope you'll remember that behind every photo, every adoption post, every foster request, and every happy ending is a story.

And every story deserves a chance to have a happy ending.

Before we get to the important business of introducing you to Jazz, we have a question...

Meet **Jazz**. ❤️

Jazz is about 2 years old and quite possibly the sweetest boy on the planet.

He loves everyone.

He loves everything.

He has never met a stranger.

He's heartworm negative, neutered, and ready to find a family of his own.

And can we talk about his fur for a second?

We're not sure how to explain it other than this:

**He feels like a baby deer.**

Seriously.

His fur is unbelievably soft.

Between the pajamas, the cuddles, and his gentle personality, Jazz is basically a living stuffed animal.

The only thing missing from this picture is a family to call his own.

🐾 Fancy looks like a Husky that was secretly raised by Golden Retrievers. 🐾

We have questions.

A lot of questions.

Mainly...

How does this dog look like THAT and act like THIS?

Look at her.

Those piercing blue eyes.

Those giant Husky ears.

That dramatic black-and-white coat.

She looks like she should be leading a sled team across Alaska while screaming at wildlife and making questionable life choices.

Instead...

Fancy enjoys:

✔️ Being brushed
✔️ Naps
✔️ More naps
✔️ Laying in your lap
✔️ Keeping her kennel clean
✔️ Being sweet
✔️ Existing peacefully

That's it.

That's the list.

We have yet to observe any of the following:

❌ Screaming
❌ Dramatic monologues
❌ Escape attempts
❌ Excavation projects
❌ Efforts to overthrow shelter management

In fact, we're beginning to suspect Fancy may not actually know she's a Husky.

Our working theory is that she was raised by Golden Retrievers and nobody ever corrected her.

While other Huskies are busy explaining their opinions on absolutely everything, Fancy is over here like:

"Oh, we're just hanging out today? Sounds great."

"A brush? Thank you."

"A nap? Also thank you."

"A lap? Don't mind if I do."

Honestly, she's less "independent northern working breed" and more "oversized teddy bear wearing a Husky costume."

And the really unfair part?

She's absolutely gorgeous.

So not only did she get the looks, she somehow got the personality too.

Rude.

Okay, maybe not literally... but it sure feels like it at Bayou Animal Services!
Our shelter is full of adorable cats and kittens who are ready to trade their kennels for cozy couches, sunny windows, and families to call their own. From playful kittens with endless zoomies to affectionate adult cats looking for a lap to nap in, we have a feline friend for just about everyone.
Right now, we need adopters more than ever. Every adoption opens up space for another animal in need and gives a deserving cat or kitten the happy ending they've been waiting for.

Bayou Animal Services is running low on pet food for our community pet food pantry, and we need your help to keep this important program going.
Our pet food pantry provides temporary assistance to local families who are going through difficult times and need a little extra help feeding their beloved pets. By offering this support, we can help keep pets with the families who love them and prevent unnecessary shelter surrenders.

Right now, we are in need of:
🐶 Dry and wet dog food
🐱 Dry and wet cat food

Every donation, big or small, makes a difference and helps a pet stay in a loving home during a challenging time. Donations can be dropped off or shipped to Bayou Animal Services at 3100 Deats road, Dickinson Texas 75571
