The Excavator (Geophagus eruca) in it's natural habitat. These large, armor plated creatures can consume meters of asphalt within hours. Be aware there is a small herd currently grazing outside the store, so please use Minnesota Avenue in an effort to avoid disrupting them.
The GLO Angelfish is a genetically modified freshwater angelfish designed to display fluorescent colors. This coloration, which is currently limited to the Starfire Red variety, is achieved by incorporating genes from marine organisms (such as jellyfish and coral) which produce bioluminescent proteins causing them to glow under certain lighting conditions. These fish have been in development for close to a decade before finally being introduced to the hobby in 2022. Be among the first aquarists to bring these guys home and swing in today!
The Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris), also known as the False Percula Clownfish, is a well-known marine fish with an orange body and white bands outlined in black. Native to the Indo-Pacific region, including the Great Barrier Reef, these clownfish are recognized for their symbiotic relationship with sea anemones, where they find shelter among the anemone's tentacles. Ocellaris Clownfish are relatively hardy, making them a common choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists. They are peaceful, social fish that do well in pairs or small groups and can live with various other marine species. In the aquarium, they need a stable environment with suitable water conditions and hiding spots. Their distinct appearance and manageable care requirements make the Ocellaris Clownfish a popular addition to reef tanks.
The Polar Blue Parrot Cichlid is a captivating hybrid fish known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant coloration. This cichlid boasts a striking, rounded body with a brilliant blue hue and an iridescent sheen that makes it stand out in any aquarium. Originating from selective breeding of the blood parrot cichlid, these fish combine the unique body shape of its parent species with the enhanced color palette of a convict cichlid. They are known for their relatively peaceful demeanor compared to other cichlids, making them suitable for community tanks with similarly sized and tempered tankmates. Thriving in a well-maintained aquarium with plenty of hiding spots, they do best with a varied diet to keep them healthy and vibrant. With their eye-catching looks and engaging personality, these adorable fish are a popular choice among aquarium enthusiasts looking to add a splash of color to their tanks.
We will be closing up at 3 today to watch the DeezFish/Lakes Cafe car at the Frazee demo derby!
The Dwarf Honey Gourami (Trichogaster chuna) is a small, peaceful freshwater fish native to the slow-moving waters of India and Bangladesh. Known for its vibrant colors and gentle demeanor, this species is a favorite among aquarium enthusiasts. Males display a stunning honey-golden hue with hints of red, while females are typically more subdued in color. These fish thrive in well-planted tanks with calm waters, where they can exhibit their natural behaviors, such as bubble nest building during breeding. Dwarf Honey Gouramis are omnivorous, enjoying a diet of small insects, crustaceans, and plant matter. Their small size and serene nature make them an excellent addition to community tanks, where they coexist peacefully with other similarly tempered fish. With their striking appearance and ease of care, Dwarf Honey Gouramis bring a touch of elegance and tranquility to any aquarium setup.

The Fire Eel (Mastacembelus erythrotaenia) is a captivating species of spiny eel native to the slow-moving rivers and floodplains of Southeast Asia. Renowned for its striking appearance, the Fire Eel features a long, slender body adorned with vivid red and yellow markings against a dark, olive-brown background. These nocturnal fish are skilled burrowers, often burying themselves in the substrate with only their heads exposed, making them fascinating to observe in their natural or aquarium habitats. Despite their eel-like appearance, they are actually a type of ray-finned fish. In captivity, Fire Eels require large tanks with plenty of hiding spots and a soft substrate to accommodate their burrowing behavior. They are carnivorous, feeding on a diet of worms, small fish, and crustaceans. With their unique looks and intriguing behavior, Fire Eels are a popular choice among experienced aquarists.

The Hogchoker (Trinectes maculatus) is a small flatfish commonly found in the estuarine and coastal waters of the eastern United States. This fish is named for its tough, leathery skin, which was said to choke hogs that tried to eat it. Hogchokers are typically brown with dark spots and have a rounded body with both eyes on one side, an adaptation for life on the seabed. They are bottom-dwellers, feeding on small invertebrates and detritus, and are notable for their ability to survive in both fresh and brackish water.

Holy carp! Just received a huge shipment of Koi and Goldfish. These guys have to be two of the most beloved and iconic species in the world of ornamental fishkeeping. Koi, originating from Japan, are renowned for their vibrant colors, graceful movements, and symbolic significance in Japanese culture. They come in a variety of colors and patterns, including red, white, black, yellow, and blue, with each variation carrying its own symbolic meaning. Goldfish, on the other hand, have been cherished in China for over a thousand years for their beauty and grace. With their shimmering scales and elegant fins, goldfish come in a multitude of shapes, sizes, and colors, ranging from the classic orange to striking metallic shades and patterns like calico and shubunkin. Both koi and goldfish are peaceful and hardy species, making them ideal choices for ponds and aquariums. Their enduring popularity stems from their stunning appearance, fascinating behaviors, and cultural significance, making them prized additions to any aquatic collection.
