The heat and humidity had us taking plenty of A/C breaks today, but that doesn't mean the learning stopped. 🐶❄️

Roger and Hazel just arrived this morning for their boarding stay, and one of the first things we begin teaching is how to settle. Learning to switch from play mode to calm mode is an essential life skill—especially for puppies.

At Dog Daze Inn, we're not your typical boarding facility. Our dogs don't spend their days pacing kennels or waiting for pickup. Every boarding stay is filled with structure, enrichment, training opportunities, and real-life experiences that help build better habits and better relationships.

It's the kind of care you'd expect from a board-and-train program, while still giving your dog a fun, safe, and enriching vacation.

Because a tired dog is great... but a dog that knows how to relax is even better. ❤️🐾

Luna spent the day with us through our Dog Development Program — because at Dog Daze Inn, we don’t offer traditional daycare. 🐶💛

Our program is designed to give dogs more than just a place to play. Each day includes structure, enrichment, social learning, rest, and training opportunities that help dogs build confidence, improve manners, and become better companions.

Luna practiced making good choices around distractions, building focus, and learning how to navigate her day with calmness and confidence. Every interaction is an opportunity for growth.

We believe dogs deserve more than being entertained all day — they deserve to be understood, guided, and developed. That’s what makes Dog Daze Inn different. 🐾

Leo has been struggling with reactivity on walks, so we've been taking a two-part approach. While I've been working one-on-one with Leo to build a solid heel, focus around distractions, and calm responses to other dogs and people, I've also been coaching Mom on the skills, timing, and communication she'll need to continue his progress.

Today's walk was after Mom's lesson, and Leo is showing just how much he's learning. The goal isn't simply to get through a walk—it's to build confidence, trust, and a partnership where both dog and handler understand each other.

By the time Mom takes over full-time, both of them will have the tools they need to enjoy calm, enjoyable walks together. That's how lasting training happens. 💙

After 6 hours of bathing, high-velocity drying, line brushing, de-shedding, de-matting, and coat work, Jazzy is feeling like a whole new dog! While she still has more coat to blow and we'll continue working on it over future appointments, she left looking brighter, feeling lighter, and a whole lot more comfortable. I'd bet she's carrying around 20 pounds less hair! 😅🤍

At Dog Daze Inn, we don't believe in rushing dogs through the grooming process. Giant, double-coated breeds like Great Pyrenees require patience, the right tools, and plenty of breaks to keep the experience as stress-free as possible.

Our goal isn't just making them look beautiful—it's protecting the health of their skin and coat while building trust every step of the way.
Regular maintenance appointments make a huge difference. They reduce shedding, prevent painful matting, improve airflow to the skin, and make each visit easier on your dog.

Brownie 🐾 came in with a LOT of fluffy golden hair, and after building trust over several appointments, he’s finally letting me fully deshed him — and what a difference! That patience and relationship-building makes all the difference. 💛

Willow 🌸 was a new pup for us and she did amazing! She was a little nervous at first, but she trusted the process and was such a good girl.

And then there’s Buddy 🐶… a year ago, brushing, touching his feet, and bath time were a huge challenge. Today? He walks through the whole grooming process like a champ and leaves looking absolutely gorgeous. 🥹✨

Grooming isn’t just about making dogs look good — it’s about building confidence, trust, and creating a positive experience one appointment at a time. ❤️

Roger has been crushing it in our Elevated Dog Development Program... so he decided it was time to bring his sister, Winnie, along! 🐶🐶

Today was all about learning the house rules, meeting our resident pack, and practicing the skills they'll need to board confidently and calmly. We don't just train dogs—we prepare them for real life.

Watching these two figure it all out together is going to be so much fun. Stay tuned for their progress! 💙🐾

JAZZY HAS BEEN RETURNED HOME!

Found this sweet girl on Hull Ave and e. 9th street if anyone knows where she belongs? She ran out into the street in front of a car and almost got hit. When we opened the car door, she jumped right in. Brought her into some air conditioning and giving her some water. My number is 515-631-2892.

While Alice's family is away, Jana is staying in their home so Alice, Agnus, and Taco can remain comfortable in the environment they know best. For dogs who don't do well with strangers or traditional boarding facilities, this personalized approach helps reduce stress and keeps their routine as normal as possible.

During some downtime, Jana worked with Alice on leave it, touch, and down—turning a training session into fun mental enrichment. 🐾 Training isn't always about fixing behaviors. Sometimes it's simply about building confidence, keeping young minds engaged, and making every day meaningful.

This is just one example of the individualized care we provide. Every pet and every family has different needs, and we're committed to creating a plan that helps each dog feel safe, successful, and right at home—even while their people are away. ❤️

Before the fun starts outside, we always take a few minutes to slow things down. 🐾

What looks like "just hanging out in the kitchen" is actually one of the most important parts of our day.
Before heading into the backyard, we practice a little sit work, check in with each dog individually, and observe how everyone is interacting.

Who's excited? Who's nervous? Who's feeling pushy? Who needs a little extra guidance?
These calm moments help set the tone for successful play, safer group interactions, and better decision-making once the excitement level goes up outside.
Dogs don't automatically know how to make good choices in a group setting. By slowing things down first, we're helping them build the skills they need to succeed. 💙
