FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BEAUREGARD PARISH SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ANIMAL CRUELTY CHARGES AND SEIZURE OF 35 DOGS
On May 13, 2026, our agency was contacted by another jurisdiction regarding a dog discovered within Beauregard Parish in a severe state of neglect. A microchip scan revealed the dog came from the reporting jurisdiction. This dog, along with four others, were taken into care by this Rescue Organization in 2023.
Upon receiving this information, deputies initiated a preliminary investigation. Initial contact with the Rescue Owner suggested the substandard conditions may have stemmed from an overabundance of dogs and an inability to maintain care.
However, after the investigation progressed, further issues were uncovered. Consequently, thirty-five (35) canines were voluntarily surrendered to the custody of our agency. The owner of the operation has been formally charged with thirty-five (35) counts of Cruelty to Animals under Louisiana Revised Statutes.
The Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office extends its sincere gratitude to the Bissell Pet Foundation for their immediate, vital assistance in coordinating emergency transport for our current population to accommodate this massive, influx of animals into our facility.
Additional Information:
All dogs pertaining to this case will remain under our custody and care until deemed fit for transport.
