Adoption fee is $60, the adopted pet(s) will be current with age appropriate vaccinations and worming, will also have been given flea medicine and spayed/neutered before leaving the Shelter. We have over 200 cats and dogs that need forever homes. Please consider adding some love to your life and adopt a homeless pet from our animal shelter. We currently have two kittens in a foster home who have what you call Ch aka “Wobbly Syndrome” their names are Odin and Otis. Odin and Otis are looking for their forever homes that being said we are looking for someone with experience with this neurological condition.

CH cat" refers to a cat with Cerebellar Hypoplasia also known as "wobbly cat syndrome," a non-progressive neurological condition that affects motor control, balance, and coordination. This condition results in a cat having a wobbly or jerky gait, head bobbing, and other coordination issues, but it is not painful, contagious, or fatal, and CH cats can lead long, happy lives.

Odin and Otis are very happy cats most cats with their condition do require a more specific home with someone who is willing to meet their needs and have a general understanding of what is to be expected.

If you are possibly interested in adopting Odin or Otis or maybe even both please call during our normal business hours at 225-664-4472 to set a date and time to meet them an application will need to be filled out prior to adopting and approved before finalizing the adoption.

We are in need of dog fosters for the upcoming chilly weather. We would need the fosters to keep the dogs Sunday November 9th through Tuesday November 11 as of right now are dog area is still under construction so please call to make an appointment before coming so we can make sure we have a prefect foster dog for you.

The shelter is going to be under construction starting today in our dog area for 7-10 business days. If you are looking to adopt a dog please call us before hand so we can make an appointment and make sure we have the right dog for you. We will not be allowing walk-ins from 11/2-11/14.

DENHAM SPRINGS ANIMAL SHELTER

Denham Springs Animal Shelter is the only no-kill municipal shelter in Louisiana. We have a no-kill policy on healthy adoptable cats and dogs. We also serve as The City of Denham Springs animal control for stray cats and dogs within the city limits of Denham Springs. Our goal is to reunite lost pets to their families. The cats and dogs that cannot be reunited with their families, are spayed or neutered, given age appropriate vaccines and placed up for adoption. All of our cats are tested for FIV and Feline leukemia upon intake. We try out best to heartworm test our dogs before adoption and are all given monthly heartworm prevention. Our adoption fee is $60 check or cash only. We are open 7 days a week from 9-4 for adoptions, and have adoption events every Saturday and Sunday from 11-3 at Petco in Denham Springs. We also house a few of our cats at time in the Catio in Petco in Denham Springs that are available for adoption.
