There are still a few days left this month to get down to Old Dog Alehouse try their new beer Puppy Teeth 🍺 and help raise funds 💵 for HSDC! The dogs 🐶 shown in the flyer are Maybelline, Cheddar, Bridgette (adopted), Honey, Little Angel, Wall-E, Crocker, Zeppelin and Gomez who are all still available. Is their new home with you??

The following is a statement from Jana Cassidy,
Executive Director, Humane Society of Delaware County

Yesterday, we collaborated with the Delaware County Sheriff and executed a search warrant at 9442 Todd Street Road in Delaware County. We received a complaint recently about an injured dog. Our investigator gained access to the property, and she observed that there were potentially injured dogs that were not receiving proper veterinary care. She further investigated and saw other alarming issues, including indicators of cockfighting.

These observations led to our seeking a search warrant. The owner voluntarily surrendered 90 animals, including nine dogs, six rabbits and numerous birds, including chickens, ducks, turkeys, doves, parakeets and many other species. We are working actively to provide care for all these animals and will pursue all appropriate legal action.

Meanwhile, we want to extend a special thank you to the Delaware County Sheriff, the Delaware County Dog Warden, Ted and Jackie Colflesh who provided a trailer to move animals, and all our wonderful volunteers. We could not do this work without you.

Kittens may be everywhere, but so are our dedicated TNR volunteers, tirelessly working to locate feline families in need. With their keen eyes and compassionate hearts, they're ensuring every whiskered friend receives the care they deserve. Our foster families take in the kittens, showering them with love until they're ready to be adopted and go to their new homes. From mamas to papas, no fur baby is left behind.

Thanks to our incredible staff and volunteer team, these cats are getting the royal treatment – spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and a telltale ear tip to signify their sterilization. The adults go back to their communities, healthier and happier than ever before. By staying put, these cats are not only improving their own well-being but also keeping their neighborhoods purrfectly balanced.

To our team of heroes: you brave all kinds of weather, trek through brush and bramble, all to ensure these cats have the best chance at life. Your dedication doesn't go unnoticed – you're true champions for those who can't speak for themselves. Thank you for being the heartbeat of our shelter! Update: transferred to the dog wardens!

We have two super cute dogs that found their way to us this afternoon. As much as we want to snuggle them ourselves, we're sure they're missing their people!

Our fluffy little friend with the white coat was found on Williams Steet and the big handsome boy on the right was found in the Khols parking lot in Delaware.

Sweethearts Maple and Cleo are true gems who deserve to be spoiled to the max. These 5 year old sisters were adopted in 2021 and brought back 2 years later. They went to a wonderful home back in February but family members were unfortunately allergic. We’re hoping they can get into their final home very quickly before transitional stress kicks in. Maple and Cleo enjoy interacting with people and welcome head rubs and cuddles. They long to be loved and fed lots of fresh veggies.

Watkins here reporting from the Humane Society of Delaware County!🎤

Sources say that this shelter currently has one of the best groups of dogs they've had in a long time, so I'm here to check it out!
First things first, there's me... duh! I'm a loveable gentle giant. I'm great with dogs and easy going with people. Plus, have you seen a prettier boy than me? I didn't think so either! Now, I could go on and on about myself, but it's only fair to give a sneak peak at some of the neighboring pups around me.

Gomez for starters, he's the best! He's a great family dog that adores kids. He loves dogs and has even done well with cats! He just wants to be with you at all times. 🐶

Lady, or "Lady of Radnor", is a true super hero in her own story. She has the legendary story of being her own independent self for over half a year! She'll tell you she only got caught because she wanted to get caught. Considering her perseverance, we believe her! You might've heard our friends at the dog wardens talk about her. But seriously, who wouldn't want their very own super dog?🦸‍♂️

And while I'm personally a fan of big dogs, (I am one myself ya know☺️), you can't have a dog shout out without some of our small super stars. Prince would like everyone to know he may be small, but his personality is big enough to outshine any of these big dogs! He's a goofy pup and loves nothing more than to make you laugh 😆

Now of course, there are many many more of us here at HSDC and the Canine Staff would be more than happy to introduce you to them! As for me, I'll be waiting for one of you to ask them about me!

Our piggies are wondering when their new families are guinea come in to adopt them. They’ve been squealing to let us know they’re ready for adventure. They want a family who understands their nature and the commitment of providing all their needs throughout their 5-8 year lifespan. The piggies are requesting loads of fresh veggies, adequate space to get their steps in, daily enrichment and connection with their caregivers. Looking for a loving Adoptive Hospice Home 🏠 🐾

Fallon is a super sweet senior special needs lady looking for her perfect home!
Could you be that caretaker that she needs?
This most beautiful, loving, kind, sweet natured, adoring, grateful, gal has had a tough life and is looking for a soft landing.

She is over 8 years old, and was very, very skinny and unable to stand on her rear legs when she was dumped at our shelter. She had horrible teeth, ear infections, diarrhea, and eye ulcers all holding her back. With some time and TLC and medical care, Fallon has bloomed like a spring flower. Her eyes and ears have healed but will require lifelong artificial tears applied to eyes to keep them healthy. She was spayed and had her teeth cleaned and some rotten ones pulled. She has put on weight and started walking and even running short distances but is still very wobbly and unsteady on her rear legs due to Degenerative Myelopathy.

She is great with cats, kids, and other dogs! She is crate trained and housebroken but can have accidents in house if left too long alone.

Fallon is currently in foster with our vet and she would be more than happy to talk more about this wonderful couch cuddler!

Update: Thank you for your out-pouring of support and shares. A new owner has been found for both horses.

We are looking for loving homes for two horses whose owner recently passed away.

Bo is a white, 20 - 22 yo gelding. He is super sweet, broke to ride, but will need a refresher. Bo would be great for therapy work.

Dixie is a 15 yo black and white paint mare and is coon-footed. She is a sweet girl and would be a great pasture pet to keep someone company.

The Humane Society will also be joining us in our tent tonight. They are currently offering $10 off cat adoptions!

There is a list below of their most needed items, however, they are especially in need of unscented clumping cat litter.

We will be located near city hall, on the car show side. We cannot wait to see everyone!
