Dear Del Rio community

We’ve recently had a large number of people stopping by to surrender cats and other animals. While we truly want to help every animal in need, we can only intake a limited number at a time.

We kindly ask that if you need to surrender an animal, please call us ahead of time before coming by. We do keep a waiting list and contact people as space becomes available.

Thank you all for your understanding, patience, and continued support as we work to care for the animals currently in our facility. ❤️🐱

Today, Alletse, Animal Services Director and Juanita, Senior Animal Services Officer, had the honor of attending the Best Friends National Conference in Salt Lake City.

Out of more than 6,000 network partners across the nation, our department was selected to receive this incredible recognition. We are truly honored and grateful to be recognized for the hard work, dedication, and passion our team puts in every single day.

We are especially thankful for the amazing partnership and continued support from Best Friends Animal Society. This achievement would not be possible without the collaboration and shared mission of helping animals in need. 🐾❤️

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our department and the work we do for our community and its pets!

As much as we love our animals we are happy to announce Oakley was adopted today and into the hands of a new caregiver!

We extend this message in hopes others may follow in this citizens footsteps in finding a new home for our pets.

Yesterday was a special one for our shelter family 🐾💕

We’re so excited to share that one amazing family opened their hearts and adopted not just one, but three of our babies—two kittens, Elsa and Cotton Ball, and one puppy, Sienna! 🐱🐱🐶

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. Seeing these fur babies leave for a loving home, together with their new best friends, is something truly special. They’re starting a brand new chapter filled with comfort, care, and so much love, and we couldn’t be happier for them.

To the wonderful family who chose adoption: thank you for giving these babies the life they deserve. And to our community, your continued support helps make stories like this possible every single day.

Happy tails, Elsa, Cotton Ball, and Sienna—your forever home looks good on you! 🐾✨

A HUGE thank you to Austin Pets Alive! 🤩🐾

Today, APA scheduled a pickup and took in 8 of our kittens and 8 of our dogs! They’re now part of an amazing program that will help them take the next steps toward finding their forever homes.

We are beyond grateful for their endless support and dedication—especially for stepping in and helping us when we need it most. ❤

Over the past two weeks, Border Animal Mission have taken in five dogs and three newborn puppies through rescue tags. Their incredible network of volunteers and fosters has been instrumental in helping us find safe placements for these animals—we truly couldn’t do it without them.

We are deeply grateful for their time, dedication, and compassion, which allow us to continue saving more lives. Attached are photos of the animals they have welcomed into their care.
