Horse Truth Tuesday: The fastest recorded sprinting speed of a horse was 88 kph (55 mph). This incredible speed was achieved in 2005 by a racing quarter horse called A Long Goodbye on a quarter-mile distance (0.40 km). The horse completed the race in exactly 20.686 seconds, running parts at over 50 mph. Most horses however gallop at around 44 kph or 27 mph.

SUMMER DAY CAMPS ARE UP AND LIVE!!! Summer will be here before you know it! Don't wait too long, these will fill up fast. Limited dates, and limited space!

Come join North Winds Rescue for a day filled with all things horse. We will start the day with usual morning chores, followed by an art project and fun games. After lunch we will play an educational horse game, and then the best part of the day. Grooming and riding (riding is weather permitting)!

MAVERICK IS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION: Maverick is a 5 year old, 15h quarter horse cross. This boy is SO athletic, he could truly go any direction. We believe he would excel working cows. He is curious, playful, and loves attention! He loves to run, and I think he would be good at barrels too, eventually. Maybe an all around horse! A variety would be good for him, as he has an active mind. He is always engaged, and so willing to please his person. He currently accepts a saddle and a human sitting, but we are working on the forward movement, and ground driving. He does need someone who will continue to be patient with him, to make sure he has an understanding for what he is learning. He truly is a special boy, looking for that special person. His training videos with us are on our YT page. He is higher in the pecking order. Does well with mares, but can get bossy with geldings when mares are around. This boy will go quick, so send us a message with any questions, or put in your application!
