Layla needs a new foster or a forever family quickly. If you live in CT and can help temporarily, or would like to adopt her, please fill out an application: https://www.allaboutthedogsrescue.org/get-involved
Layla's foster mom's job is changing and she let us know a few days ago that Layla needed to move once that happens.
Tonight there was an issue over food that was dropped on the floor. Layla and one of the family's dogs both tried to claim ownership of it. The dogs weren't badly hurt and none of the humans got hurt at all. However, the foster family feels that Layla needs to move and we totally respect that decision. We told them that we would find a new home - either foster or forever - for Layla as quickly as possible.
The disagreement tonight aside, Layla LOVES other dogs and reliably does well with them. We always recommend that dogs be fed separately and kept out of any area where food is being prepared or eaten, but accidents happen.
Layla also is wonderful with children. She has lived with a child in the home of her first rescuers - before she came to us - and did great with the child. In her current foster home, children are there on a regular basis and she has reliably done well with them, too.
She was rescued several months ago from a life living in a crate in the ghetto. Her independent rescuers were her true heroes but couldn't keep her, and reached out for help. We're so happy we were able to say "yes"!
After dealing with some medical issues, Layla has shown herself to be a happy, loving, friendly, energetic young dog. She'll do best with an active family who will take her out and introduce her to new people, places, and things. She will need continued training and socialization.
She really would love a home with a canine friend - or even a couple of them. She will do well in a home with children 7+ years old. She'd love a fenced yard where she can get her energy out in good weather.
In the few months that she's been with us, Layla's personality has become more and more apparent. She's just a bouncy, happy, active puppy - only about 1-1/2 years old - who sees a wider and wider world that she can be a part of - and she loves every minute of it!
She will make a wonderful family member for a family willing and able to continue to work with her, to make sure that she matures into the best version of Layla she can be!
