The other day I was standing by my loaded trailer talking to some people and the man asked me “How do you get yours to haul so quiet?”.
I replied “I haul them.”
Sometimes the answer to training a horse is a simple one.
You can’t get upset if your horse is only being hauled once a month and he’s anxious in the trailer. It’s not very natural for one to be hauled around in a tin can so I don’t feel like we should be able to get upset at them for being a little anxious and worried.
I will correct them to let them know it’s not an appropriate answer but I don’t get upset about it if they are sturring around in the trailer.
I’ve had c**ts and client horses in the trailer being hauled 4 out of 7 days this week.
2 times working cattle, 1 roping practice and 1 show.
My horses are going to be quiet because they are used to it. If you hear one stirring around come back and see how he feels about it the next week because I guarantee after a few miles under his feet in the trailer and in the saddle he’s not going to be to worried about standing still in the trailer.
