🎆 911 Tips for a Safe & Sparkling 4th of July 🎇

1. Know When to Call 911
👉 Call 911 ONLY for emergencies — fire, serious injury, or crimes in progress.
📞 Not for fireworks complaints unless there's danger to life or property.

2. Be Firework-Smart
🚫 Never try to relight malfunctioning fireworks.
🔥 If a fire starts, get to safety and call 911 immediately.

3. Keep Your Location Handy
📍 Know the address or location where you’re celebrating — GPS isn’t always perfect.
🗣 Be ready to describe landmarks or intersections if you’re in a park or rural area.

4. Don’t Hang Up!
☎️ Even if you call by accident, stay on the line. Dispatchers need to confirm you're safe.

5. Stay Calm, Speak Clearly
😌 Stay as calm as you can.
🗣 Tell dispatchers what happened, where, and who needs help.

6. Mind the Kids & Pets
👶 Keep kids away from fireworks and explain what an emergency is.
🐶 Loud noises can spook pets — make sure they’re secured indoors.

7. Avoid Tying Up 911 Lines
📱 Don’t call 911 to ask about public events, fireworks shows, or traffic — use non-emergency lines or city websites for that info.

Happy Independence Day! Fourth of July festivities are fun and filled with celebrations, however, we must remember to keep our pets safe and happy. 🐕 🐈

Reminders for the holiday:
👉 Take your pet for a walk or play with them to get some energy out before the celebrations begin.
👉 Don’t leave your pet outside during fireworks. Place them inside with food, water, and maybe their favorite toy.
👉 Keep party food and alcohol away from your pet.
👉 Make sure your pets are wearing ID tags and their chip information is up-to-date.
👉 Clean up hazardous foods, drinks, and other items immediately after the festivities.

🌡🔥As the temperatures climb, we remind you to take special care with our furry friends out in the heat. Panting is the primary way that dogs cool themselves—only their feet sweat! Here are some helpful tips for summer safety:

📌Always ensure that you and your pooch take ample water breaks to stay hydrated.
📌Only walk when the temperatures are safe to do so: try early morning strolls and evening jaunts. Be mindful of hot pavement (your dog isn’t wearing shoes!).
📌Be especially cautious with brachycephalic breeds (Frenchies, Bostons, Boxers, etc) outside: their cute squished nose makes it harder for them to cool off. We recommend keeping them indoors during the day.
📌Never try to cool your dog by pouring cold water over them—this can actually have the opposite effect and make it harder for them to cool down. Take them inside and offer tepid water and let them lay in front of the fan.
📌Practice water safety by using floatation devices specifically for our furry friends and closely supervising waterside activities.
📌 Make sure your contact information is up to date on microchips, especially when traveling: we love calling to tell you we found your furry friend safe!

⚠️NEVER leave a pet in a parked car—temperatures climb to dangerous highs quicker than you think. If you see a pet in distress, call your local police department non-emergency line. They can send help.

⚠️If you think your dog is overheating or showing signs of heatstroke, get them into the AC and seek medical care immediately. Signs of heatstroke include: excessive panting, red gums, abnormal behavior, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, and collapse.

☀️Have fun, but stay safe in the summer sun!
