Everyone meet, one of our Veterinary assistants, Kayla. Here is why she LOVES working at Dalton Animal Care:
"A couple reasons why I love working at DAC and appreciate what I do for a living is because technicians/assistants are unspokenly the underdogs of the vet field. Being an assistant I get to enjoy making connections between myself and the patient that lasts a lifetime. Seeing a pet happy and healthy is the second most satisfying component to my job. The first would be, the happiness an owner and their pet expresses once we have cured their illness or helped ease their pain. Ever since I was just a little girl I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life around animals. I love working at DAC being hands on with pets learning so that I may further use my knowledge in life with my very own and also to the public."
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise $530 for the Ranger Foundation in May. This supports pets in need of care. Mrs. Sherry Akin was the winner of our cooler giveaway! Mrs. Akin made her donation in memory of Virginia Hackney, one of our front office employees from 1986 to 2010. Thank you to Mrs. Sherry Akin and all who participated!
Sweet Luna came in for her puppy visit last week and Courtny, one of our vet assistants, couldn't help but fall in love. Call us today at 70-278-1113 to schedule an appointment.

Everyone meet, our Practice Manager, Kim. Here is why she loves working at Dalton Animal Care:
"I've loved being at Dac since I was just a little girl. My granny worked for Dr. Burger, who was the first owner of DAC in 1976. Also, rescuing cuties like this sweet girl (pictured) is bonus."
Thank you to all who donated to the Ranger Foundation in the month of May. We will do our drawing for the LIFETIME Cooler tomorrow, June 1, at 3:00 on Facebook Live. Tune in and Good Luck!

Everyone meet, one of our client care specialist, Fabi. Here is why she LOVES working at Dalton Animal Care:
"There are so many reasons why I work at DAC and every aspect of it. One of the main reasons is being able to be one of the many voices for a fur baby that is in need of medical assistance. Secondly, I love being able to help the Hispanic community by translating by phone or any medical information or answering any questions or concerns during an appointment time. Lastly and most rewarding, being able to build a special relationship with fur babies and their families."
We love Fabi and we are so thankful that she chose us to work for!

We are going out with a bang on this last video! If you're a brave soul, you may have wondered HOW TO: Express Your Dog's A**l Glands. This can get messy and smelly, but it is an important health and grooming step for a lot of dogs. As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
We may ask you to bring in a urine sample for lab testing, and you may wonder HOW TO: Collect Your Dog's Urine Sample. So here's our best advice! As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
Another monitoring tool you can use at home is learning HOW TO: Check Your Pet's Heart Rate. Normal heart rate for dogs can range from 80-140 beats per minute. For a cat, normal is higher than dogs; normal cat heart rates can range from 140-220 beats per minute. This can also alert you early to potential life threatening issues. As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
A powerful monitoring tool you can use at home is learning HOW TO: Check Your Pet's Respiratory Rate. This can alert you early to potential life threatening issues and is useful in monitoring certain heart and lung diseases. As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
Today we're sharing HOW TO: Apply nose drops for your pet. Upper respiratory infections are more common in cats, but this same technique applies to dogs as well. Grayson gives a pretty typical reaction and sneezing after application is common! As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
Anybody else have trouble mastering HOW TO: Apply Topical Medications To Your Cat? It's always a struggle each month around our house, but it's still a very important part of preventative health for your cat. As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
Today we're investigating HOW TO: Brush Your Dog's Teeth! This is usually a bit of an adventure. There's no question that brushing your dog's teeth daily can help slow progression and prevent serious dental disease, but it can be quite daunting sometimes. At least they love the taste of the toothpaste! As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
HOW TO: Apply Eye Medications to Your Pet... another type of medication we may dispense to help your pet feel better! If you are instructed to give multiple eye medications, be sure to separate them by 5-10 minutes each. As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
Another popular one for ya'll today! HOW TO: Clean Your Dog's Ears. You'll want to use a cleanser with a drying agent plus something soft like a gauze or cotton ball to clean them. Look out for signs of an ear infection including: severe wax build up, redness, bad odor, tenderness, or bleeding. These will require special medication in addition to cleaning. As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
Today we promised HOW TO: Give Oral Medications to Your Cat! ๐ผ๐ This is a different scenario altogether from a dog. If possible try to entice your cat to eat the pill in canned food, squeeze cheese, or a pill pocket. Following the pill with a syringe of fresh water can encourage swallowing. Some liquid medications can cause cats to drool excessively, which is often a normal response. PS: Grayson is a beautiful yet often temperamental cat. I consider myself lucky to still have 10 healthy fingers after this filming session. Please use caution when medicating your cats at home, and let us know if you become uncomfortable. ๐๐ธ As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
Today we're sharing HOW TO: Give your dog oral medications! If they will take the pill from you in a treat, canned food, squeeze cheese, peanut butter, or a marshmallow, those are all good tricks. P.S. Medicating cats is a whole different ball game! Stay tuned for that lesson tomorrow. ๐ As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
As a follow up to yesterday's nail trim video, today we'll show you how to place a *temporary* bandage. If your pet breaks a nail, quicks a nail, cuts a paw or something similar, you can place this type of bandage to keep things clean and protected. All you'll need is gauze/padding, self-adhesive ace wrap, and maybe a helping hand! As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen!
For the next couple of weeks, we will be sharing "how to" videos for some of your pets' common needs! We'll start with a big one: NAIL TRIMS! ๐ If your pet's nail bleeds, try firm pressure, corn starch, or a temporary bandage to control the bleeding. If you feel uncomfortable with this, of course we are always here to perform these in our clinic. As you continue to care for your pets at home, if you need assistance or have concerns, don't hesitate to call and ask about our Virtual Visit service or schedule an appointment to have your pet seen! P.S. We attempted a solo cat nail trim video... it might appear in the blooper real! ๐
