Standard Schnauzer

Standard schnauzers were actually bred to seek out vermin, and their trademark whiskers serve a purpose: their fur mats together to prevent rats and other small animals from biting them while they hunt.

The Standard Schnauzer is the oldest of the three Schnauzer breeds, originating in Germany as a versatile farm dog, ratter, and guard dog, known for its intelligence, high spirit, and wiry coat. This medium-sized, sturdy dog is characterized by its rectangular head, beard, and eyebrows, and comes in black or salt-and-pepper colors. They are energetic, trainable, and excel in dog sports, but require regular grooming and mental stimulation.
