We are in REAL need here folks. We need help with animal care and surely some of you have time on your hands and love in your hearts for animals. Please don't think that other people will step up and help, if you can help, please do. We have a small group of volunteers and they work hard to take care of the animals here at the shelter. Many of them work full time jobs and buy out a few hours here and there to help. We would be lost without them. We are again at the time of the year when volunteer numbers get smaller as some leave for the winter.

We are taking care of lots of living souls here and our numbers are few by comparison. Please be kind and help us to help them. We need you, won't you help us?

You may leave here tired sometimes but you will leave with a smile on your face and love in your heart. Do it for them and because it truly is the right thing to do. Please call 906-293-6622, or stop by for a volunteer application. Thank you!

Oh by the way, this handsome little man is Graham and he and 2 brothers, and a sister are available for adoption. We'd love them to go in pairs if possible. Sweetest, snuggly, little kissing, and purring love bugs ever! They will give you years of love and entertainment!

To love a dog through every stage—from bounding youth to gentle old age—is to witness devotion at its purest. Their eyes may grow cloudy, their steps slower, but their love never weakens. When goodbye approaches, it is love that holds us together until the very last heartbeat.

Grief is the shadow of great affection. It reminds us that something extraordinary once existed—loyalty so complete it defies words. Honor that by remembering them not for their last days but for every joyful one that came before.

Our pets teach us how to love bravely, knowing it will one day ache. That courage is the most beautiful part of being human. 🌙🐾

Say hello to “Ivan”; the newest member to the Contain A Pet of EUP family. 🥰
We just installed about an acre and a quarter system for this beautiful young pup to burn off that “Labrador” energy.
I’m not sure who is more excited for this: Ivan or Mom and Dad. 🤗

An incident happened this afternoon during a surgical discharge that has triggered me to make this post.

Let me start off with the fact that I even have to make this post is ridiculous.

Today during a routine and standard surgical discharge, multiple staff members were met with hostlity, rudeness and complete disrespect. Every one of them are kind, caring individuals that are here to help and care for each and every animal that walks through our doors.

Please, treat our staff members with kindness and respect. Their job is hard enough as it is. If you don’t, you will be discharged from the practice and that only makes your pet suffer. We get that life can be stressful, but our staff members are human beings and don’t deserve to be treated poorly.

Meet Zelda

Zelda is a 2.5 year-old shepherd that is looking for a home with shepherd experience. She enjoys the company of most dogs and a home with another dog is recommended for her. Zelda is incredibly smart and loyal to her person. She will bark at new people she doesn't know but does warm up rather quickly. Zelda is housebroken and has been trained to a wire crate but did not use it in her previous home as she could be left unattended without any incidents. If you're in the market for a shepherd, call the shelter at 906 632 2519 to set up an appointment to meet Zelda. Please note that Zelda may need someone to visit her several times before taking her home. If you have another dog in the home, a meet and greet is required before brining Zelda home.

Say hello to Nova, a spirited 3-year-old Aussie Shepherd & Border Collie mix who’s ready to bring pure joy into your life!

This beautiful girl may have three legs, but that doesn’t slow her down one bit. Nova loves hiking, playing frisbee, and playing with toys — every day’s an adventure with her! ✨

When it’s time to relax, she’s all about cuddles and snuggles. 🥰 Nova’s sweet, loyal, and great with older kids who can match her playful spirit as well as herding ways. Like people, she has her preferences with other dogs, so we always recommend a friendly meet & greet to see if there’s a good fit.
