**Sage Update: One Week Post-Op and Still a Repeat Offender 😂🐾**

Sage is now **one week post-surgery** and healing very well — although she still strongly disagrees with the entire concept of “restricted activity.”

Our little patient who previously staged a **4-foot pen jailbreak while under the influence** is now in foster with our wonderful prior adopter, **Deana**, who has taken on the very important job of keeping Sage from adding any new charges to her record. 😂

Sage has also decided that she is now a **very selective food critic.** Since she needs to eat so her medications don’t upset her stomach, we had a boatload of frozen and raw food delivered. She currently has a full **smorgasbord of delights** to choose from, and we are just hoping something meets her standards.

Now we are officially on the **CONE COUNTDOWN.** 🙌 We are hoping and praying the doctor approves taking it off this **Friday**. Once that cone is gone, she can finally use a crate safely — which may greatly improve Deana’s chances of keeping this extremely active “recovery patient” contained.

🐾 Meet the New & Improved Max – Ready to Be Your One and Only! 💙

Max is an energetic young German Shepherd who has been putting in the work at Full Focus K9 in Dacula, learning the skills and manners he needs to become an awesome best friend.

This smart boy has basic obedience under his belt, walks on a leash and is working on his recall. He's also learning how to calmly coexist around other large animals. Max has come a long way, and his training is helping him channel all that youthful GSD energy in the right direction!

🎾 What does Max love? Playing ball, long walks, hikes and spending time with his people. He is high-energy and will be a fantastic companion for an active person or family looking for a dog to join them on adventures.

Max will likely never be the social butterfly at the dog park—and that’s okay! While he can learn to be around other animals appropriately, Max will be happiest and most successful as the only dog in his forever home. He doesn’t need a pack. He just needs his people.

Max’s start in life wasn’t the easiest. After being purchased from a breeder, his owner left him behind with family and never returned. Eventually, Max ended up at a crowded metro shelter before Canine Pet Rescue stepped in to give him another chance. Now he’s safe, learning and growing into the dog we knew he could be.

💙 Max has done his homework. He’s learning his manners. Now he needs someone willing to make him their one and only.

Sage Update ❤️🐾

Sage’s surgery yesterday was successful! She had her FHO surgery and, while she was under anesthesia, we also had her spayed.

She came home on quite the pharmacy of medications, and unfortunately, some of them are making her a little anxious and restless. Apparently Sage did not get the memo about strictly restricted activity because today she decided it was time for a little walkabout…and climbed out of a 4-foot pen. 🤦‍♀️

If a dog could be arrested for being under the influence, Sage would currently be sitting in jail awaiting bond. 😂 Between the pain medication, sedatives and anti-anxiety drugs, this girl is definitely not operating heavy machinery anytime soon.

Despite being sedated, anxious and understandably uncomfortable, Sage is still an incredibly sweet girl. She just wants to be with people and get some love.

At this point, medical boarding may be in her future so we can keep our little escape artist safe while she gets through these first difficult days of recovery.

Thank you SO much to everyone who has donated, shared her story, prayed for her and checked on her. Sage has a long recovery ahead of her, but the biggest hurdle—the surgery—is behind her. ❤️

Now if someone could just explain to Sage that “rest and recovery” does not mean “jailbreak.” 😂🐾

💔 **SHE WAS HIT BY A CAR—AND NOW SHE NEEDS ALL OF US.** 💔

This sweet young girl Sage was struck by a car and left suffering with a dislocated hip. Someone knew she was injured, but she did not receive the help she desperately needed. Thankfully, Sage is safe with us now—but her journey is just beginning.

Sage needs an **FHO surgery** to repair her injured hip, followed by approximately two months of recovery. Between the surgery, X-rays, veterinary care, and related expenses, **we urgently need to raise $2,500.** SURGERY IS TUESDAY MORNING!!!

The wonderful news is that Sage is young, and her doctors expect her to make a full recovery. And despite everything she has endured—and the pain she is still experiencing—she is an exceptionally sweet and loving dog. She has not been aggressive, nippy, or grumpy. She simply wants to be near people and receive affection.

She is:

❤️ Completely house-trained
❤️ Young and expected to recover fully
❤️ An all-around wonderful girl who deserves a chance

Getting her to safety was truly a team effort. Amber with Unleash The Love helped coordinate her initial rescue and veterinary care, and then a wonderful volunteer pilot flew her to us here in Gwinnett County.

It is rare for two rescues to join forces on a dog facing injuries this severe, but we agreed that we would be partners in saving this girl. Her help has been invaluable, and we are incredibly grateful to her, Unleash the Love, and the volunteer pilot who helped bring this sweet dog to safety.

Now we need your help.

😇Meet SANDERS — our handsome little blonde-and-white Aussie boy with the face of an angel and the social circle of a tiny mafia boss.

Sanders is just under 40 pounds, absolutely beautiful, housetrained, crate trained, good with other dogs, and very easy to live with once you are officially accepted into his inner circle.

But here’s the truth: Sanders is not a “love everybody at first sight” kind of dog. In fact, Sanders has opinions. Strong ones. He does not want to be passed around, rushed, grabbed at, or expected to instantly make friends with every person who walks through the door.

Sanders loves his foster mom. He loves her boyfriend. He loves the pet sitter. Once you are his person, he is golden — sweet, loyal, affectionate, and completely devoted. But you do have to earn your membership card.

Sanders needs a quiet, dog-savvy home with someone who understands that trust is built slowly. A single-person home or calm couple would be ideal. He may do best with a female owner, although he has warmed up to some men who gave him space and let him come around on his own terms.

His perfect adopter will not take his hesitation personally. They will not push him. They will not demand affection. They will simply let Sanders decide, at his own pace, that they are worthy of being in the family.

And once Sanders decides you are family? You get the best version of him.
