For those following Richochet’s journey, this is the day we’ve been looking forward to since January! He got cleared last week by Dr. Cruise for turnout. We worked him into it slowly by using small areas and some light sedation. Today he got to go to a larger area with a friend his own size. These videos are after his sedation wore off. His healing is looking like it’s on the right track!

Our little guy got to stretch his legs some this week. His barn name is still a hot debate around here; Nader or Zeus, both very fitting for how the weather was when he decided to make his grand entrance!

It’s 4:30. The alarm just went off to get up for my Thursday workout, but we’re already up. We woke up at 1:00am with tornado warnings and severe storms. We started watching Anna last night after noticing that she’d waxed over and seemed to have dropped a bit. Sure enough, after the first round of tornado warnings I noticed what looked like water on the stall floor, went out to check and saw she was in labor. Stud c**t was born around 2:55. Momma and baby are doing well. We’ve checked all the boxes thus far, c**t stood, nursed just a bit (I’d like to see more), and momma passed a complete placenta. Life is good and we can’t wait to see what SWF Hard Rockin Storm, the first foal out of our Rocky Mountain and Kentucky Mountain registered stallion, Tank, grows to be!!

Horses are not programmed to automatically obey. They are constantly making decisions based on what they see, feel, and experience. Your job is to become the steady, confident leader they are always searching for.

Without clear leadership, horses will fill in the gaps themselves — often leading to resistance, confusion, or even dangerous behavior.

A true horseman earns the horse's trust and guides them with patience, consistency, and clarity. Be the leader your horse needs, not just the rider on their back.

Hard Rockimg Anna is in the barn and getting pampered for the impending birth! Her 340th day is 4/14/25, but she went to 354 days last year. When do you think she’ll foal?

Ricochet got the best news he could have today. The fracture is healing great! He's out of his cast, has a specialty shoe and still on stall rest for the next 5-6 weeks. After that, he'll get an injection containing a steroid and lubricant for the joint, can be barefoot and turned out. The vet is "very optimistic" about his future, which is what we wanted to hear! The chance of him even needing continuous injections in his joint isn't super likely. Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers. We'll continue to keep you posted on his progress.

Send this sweet guy some good thoughts for even healing of fractured coffin bone! He’s been on stall rest and casted for the past four weeks to immobilize his joint and keep his coffin bone from shifting. Being so young is certainly on his side!
X-rays today will tell us if he’s healed properly to guarantee soundness.

Please understand that I am posting these videos only to show you the disposition and the natural gait of this young stallion. I know that he is far from his potential simply because this is only his 4th ride and his 3rd time in a bit. I felt comfortable enough to put my 10 yr old on him to show you his potential.
