Full Off-Site Lease Opportunity Available April 1st.
Meet Epona (JC Gromantine), 5 year old, 16.2 Thoroughbred mare. Big bodied, athletic, brave over fences, sharp as a tack, and super smooth- this mare could be a wonderful project for someone with adult amateur aspirations but is unable to do the full responsibility of horse ownership.
Epona was adopted from Second Stride in August and has started retraining with me since. She had a known minor tendon injury in her right front from April of 2024 and has never once caused me an issue since having her, but is something to keep in mind. The vet has said she has no limitations so long as she stays sound, which she has.
She has already jumped 2’6” and is quickly learning flying lead changes. She LOVES to jump and is a future eventing prospect for myself personally. We have gone to a couple of local shows and schooling events, a hunter pace and lessons at Masterson, and has handled everything really well.
I have had some life changes as well as a separate 2025 RRP horse to worry about which unfortunately puts her on the back burner. I would love her to go to someone with big goals and wants a fun spring/summer/ fall horse to show on. She has so much potential, and I’d hate for that to just go to waste for a year when she could go out there and crush it with someone. To me she seems like she would be a great fit for an adult ammie or college student with riding experience. She is NOT a beginner horse.
She does need to remain in front shoes while in training but has solid feet. I’ll be honest, she’s lost some condition this winter, it’s been a struggle for us all and the lack of rideable weather has interrupted our consistent work. She needs groceries if she’s going to be kept in work, but that being said she is healthy, happy and up to date on vaccines and deworming and happy to give you more info if interested.
She is a bit of a push ride but respectful and really wants to please, I’ve found simple English spurs have really helped. Once you get her going she frames up nicely and stays in consistent contact with the bit. She will have her first eventing show on March 15th at Masterson Station and after that will be available! I have not done anything with this mare where she has told me “NO”. She does it all. If you know me, you know I’m doing this only because I want to give her the absolute best opportunities, and I certainly don’t want to be the one limiting her due to time and facility restrictions.
She is currently located in Versailles, KY. She will go to approved homes only and only to the right person, as she’s definitely special!
