The Allegany County Animal Shelter was the first No-Kill municipal shelter in the state of Maryland and is run by the ACAS Management Foundation. Lost animals are held 4 days until their owner brings them back home. You will see pictures of all the adoptable cats and dogs, and be informed when they find their "forever homes". We're just two days away from the 2026 Western Maryland Craft Beverage Festival!

Here are a few quick notes and reminders for our attendees:
- Gates open to the public at 12pm. Our VIPs can enter at 11:30am.
- Be sure to bring a valid, government issued photo ID.
- Tickets are available at the gate. See the pic below for gate prices.
- Cash, credit card, Apple/Google pay will be accepted at the gate.
- Pop-up tents are limited to certain areas. First come, first served.
- No pop-up tents will be permitted prior to noon. No exceptions.
- There is no ATM on site, so some cash might not be a bad idea.
- Free shuttle parking behind WellCare provided by Lucky Brothers. Shuttle runs every 10 min. Drop-off and pick-up at the main gate.

Pupdate: Both dogs have found homes.❤️

A local family is is need of rehoming two puppies. They are 8 month old American Pitt Bull/ Great Pyranese mixes who are UTD on shots and have been vetted at Hillside. They are not a bonded pair and can go to separate homes.

According to the owners, Roscoe is loving, calm, and enjoys being with people. He has a hearing deficit but is not deaf.

Sassy is described as sweet, loving, and playful. She enjoys playing catch and retrieving balls.

We are absolutely thrilled to share that our sweet Yeti has found his forever home! ❤️🏡

Yeti was adopted by the loveliest family, and we couldn't be happier for him. Best of all, he now has a human sibling to grow up alongside—making memories, sharing adventures, and enjoying all the love and fun that family life has to offer! 🐶💙

Our staff and volunteers are celebrating this very special adoption and couldn't be more thrilled to see Yeti begin this exciting new chapter. We know he is one lucky pup—and we have a feeling his new family is just as lucky to have him! ❤️

Rabies Clinic Update! 🐾

An incredible 261 animals received their rabies vaccinations at yesterday’s clinic!

A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, energy, and plenty of sweat to make this event such a success. We are grateful to our dedicated partners, volunteers, community members, and vet Kara Lynne Miller who helped protect so many pets, and our entire community, in just one afternoon!

Today is a very special day as we celebrate the adoption of Brinley. She is such a loving, sweet girl who has brought so much joy to everyone who has had the pleasure of knowing her.

While we will certainly miss her, there is nothing better than watching one of our shelter pups head off to begin the next chapter of her life.

Brinley, we are SO excited for your future! May it be filled with endless love, happy adventures, cozy naps, and all the happiness you deserve.

Yesterday was a VERY special day because our sweet boy, Spiker, finally headed home! 🏡🐶

Spiker was one of our long timers—overlooked for far too long despite being such a wonderful, deserving boy. Day after day, our staff and volunteers watched and waited, hoping someone would finally see what we saw in him. Yesterday, that day finally came, and our entire shelter family is celebrating. We know he has so much love, fun, and happiness ahead of him, and we hope his new adopters make up for every day he had to wait.

Go enjoy your freedom ride, Spiker! You’ve waited long enough. ❤️🐾

We are incredibly grateful for the support of a state grant, received by Frostburg Elks Lodge #470, that was used to purchase $1,000 worth of much-needed dog food. We also want to thank Jeff, owner of Pet Wants, for going above and beyond by donating an additional 20% of the food to our shelter. We are so thankful for our amazing community partners who continue to help us provide the very best for our shelter pets!

❤️🐾 Happy Tails, Abraham! 🐾❤️

After patiently waiting for his forever home, Abraham’s day has finally arrived! He is especially lucky because he has a new human sister who will get to grow up alongside him. We can already imagine the adventures, laughter, snuggles, and countless memories these two will share over the years. 🥰🐶👧

His adopter also took advantage of our Honoring our Heroes Program, through which we waive adoption fees for first responders, veterans, and active service members (with an approved application). It’s just a small way for us to say "thank you" for their dedication and courage and the services they provide to our community. 🇺🇸

Congratulations, Abraham! Your forever family was worth the wait. We wish you and your new sister a lifetime of happiness and adventures.
