Copiah Animal Shelter is pleased and most grateful to announce we applied for and have been awarded $3,000 Shelter animal spay/neuter Grant funds in 2026 from the "I Care for Animals" CAR TAG Program! THANK YOU, Mississippi Board of Animal Health and ALL THE PEOPLE who purchase these SPECIALTY CAR TAGS.
Copiah Animal Shelter's spay/neuter efforts have reduced the overpopulation of unwanted, homeless animals by thousands since CAS beginning in 2011.
Your purchase of an “I Care for Animals” car tag at your county courthouse will help homeless, injured, and abused animals around the State. The fund supports spay/neuter and other animal welfare programs to Mississippi animal shelters and humane organizations which make application and meet the criteria for award.

Say hello to Penny. She is a catahoula mix and is about 6 weeks old. She loves attention and loves to play. She is looking for a family that will love her and will help her live her best life. 🚨 We’re Hiring – Shelter Help Needed! 🐾

We are currently looking for a reliable and dedicated individual to help with our shelter animals during the following shifts:

• Monday: Morning & Evening
• Wednesday: Morning
• Friday: Morning & Evening

This position involves:
🐶 Feeding and watering animals
🧼 Cleaning kennels and maintaining a sanitary environment
🐾 Basic care and monitoring of dogs and cats
💛 Giving these animals the love and attention they deserve

This is not just a job. These animals depend on you. We are looking for someone who is:
✔️ Dependable and consistent
✔️ Comfortable working around animals
✔️ Willing to get a little dirty and work hard
✔️ Passionate about animal care

🚨 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🚨

We’ve been given the opportunity to participate in an amazing live-streamed fundraiser for our shelter and this could make a HUGE impact for our animals 🐾

But we need your help to make it happen.

We are looking for 15–20 volunteers who are willing to have fun and be part of the event! This includes participating in games like:
🥚 Eggs cracked on your head
🥧 Pies to the face
🌯 Tortilla slap challenge
…and more!

🎥 This event will be LIVE STREAMED, so volunteers must be comfortable being on camera and engaging with the audience.

This is a BIG opportunity for our shelter, and we truly need committed, reliable volunteers to help us pull this off. The more participation we have, the more we can raise for the animals in our care ❤️

Buttercup doesn’t understand why she’s back. It is no fault of her own. Owner is moving and couldn’t take her.

A year ago, she walked out of our shelter and into a home she thought was hers forever. She learned routines, felt safe, and loved her people.

And now… she’s back here. Sitting on a cold floor, watching every door, hoping it’s someone coming for her.

She’s confused. She’s scared. And honestly, she deserves better than this.

Buttercup is gentle, quiet, and just wants to feel safe again. You can see it in her eyes… she’s trying so hard to understand what she did wrong.

She didn’t do anything wrong.

She is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, and ready to go home today.

We’re not looking for “just another home” for Buttercup. We’re looking for her forever this time.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, please come meet her. She doesn’t need perfection… she just needs someone who won’t give up on her.
