Among the most ridiculously awesome of all small housedogs, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is like the ultimate party animal - strong, athletic, and ridiculously lively, this little herder is super affectionate, loves to hang out, but isn't clingy. They're one of the world's most popular herding breeds, because, well, who wouldn't want a cute, smart, and hardworking best friend? At 10 to 12 inches tall and 27 to 30 pounds, a well-built male Pembroke is like a big dog in a tiny tuxedo, minus the awkwardness. With their short but powerful legs, muscular thighs, and deep chest, they're built for a hard day's play, and by play, I mean wreaking havoc. And despite being a little low to the ground, Pembrokes are crazy quick and agile, like they're wearing rocket skates. They come in all sorts of fun colors - red, sable, fawn, and black and tan, with or without white markings, because variety is the spice of life. The Pembroke is a total goofball who loves to play with their human family and is a total genius when it comes to training, mostly because they're master manipulators. This explains their desire to log roll for miles while on a leash…unless they truly believe taking you on a walk was their idea. As herders bred to wrangle cattle, they're fearless and independent, but also super loyal and loving, because they're not afraid to wear their hearts on their sleeves. They make awesome watchdogs, with super sharp senses and a bark that's way bigger than they are, mostly because they're trying to compensate for something. If you're a family who can keep up with their bold but lovable Pembroke's need for adventure and snuggles, you'll never find a more loyal, loving BFF. Today’s Dog of the Day.
