Almost Home Rescue Almost Home Rescue is a 501c3, all-volunteer dog rescue helping Rhode Island shelter dogs. All donations are tax deductible.

Almost Home Rescue (AHR) is a non-profit dog rescue serving Rhode Island. AHR is comprised of a small, yet dedicated group of volunteers who devote their free time to rescuing, rehabilitating-if necessary- and rehoming dogs in need.

A quick update: She’s doing wonderfully with crate training, but she is not yet fully house trained. She came to us using p*e pads, and we’re working on transitioning her to going outside. She may always need a little extra patience and consistency in this area.

We also noticed a bump on her wrist, so we had X-rays done. Thankfully, there was no fracture. She does have some arthritis in her left shoulder and swelling in her wrist, but her mobility is good and she’s taking joint supplements.

Meet Aggie, 100+ pounds of pure LOVE. 🖤🐾

Aggie is the kind of girl who doesn’t quite realize she’s a very large dog. 😂 She just knows that people are her favorite, kisses are mandatory, and if she can get closer to you, she absolutely will.

This beautiful Cane Corso is sweet, affectionate, playful, loyal, and hilarious. She loves going for car rides, takes treats like a perfect lady, and once she gets going on a walk, she settles into a nice stride. She’s also dog-friendly with the right match and would love a male canine companion. ❤️

Aggie is looking for an experienced Cane Corso/guardian breed home with a secure 6 foot fenced yard. She would do best with kids 12+.

She may be big, but underneath all that muscle is a goofy, affectionate girl who just wants to be loved. 🥹

❤️ Amelia is ready to find the one thing she’s never truly had… a patient home of her own. ❤️

Some dogs come into rescue wagging their tails. Others come carrying the weight of a life that wasn’t always kind.

Amelia is one of those dogs.

She’s healing beautifully after her spay surgery and liver biopsy, and we’re all hoping for positive news from her biopsy results. While her body is recovering, her heart is still learning that people can be gentle and that she’s finally safe.

Amelia is incredibly sweet, but she’s very timid and frightened by the world around her. She isn’t the kind of dog who will run into your arms on day one. She’ll need someone willing to let her build trust at her own pace.

Because of her fear, Amelia must have a secure fenced yard and a family who understands that scared dogs can be flight risks.

One thing she does know? Other dogs make her feel safe. 🐾 She absolutely enjoys the company of canine friends, and we’d love to see her join a home with another calm, confident dog who can help her navigate this new chapter.

If you have the patience to watch a scared dog slowly blossom into a loyal companion, Amelia is waiting for you.
