Amazing example of persistence, heart, and intention.
Never give up. The first day I PTed at Crazy Horse was the day before Thanksgiving. It was back and biceps night, and I thought I did great. Then I woke up the next day. My arms no longer worked; they were so fatigued at dinner that night I had to have my Dad pour me a glass of water. It was also the first time I told a lot of my family I was enlisting in the Coast Guard…I got a lot of weird looks that day. But I showed up to the next PT session, ready to crush what came next.
Soon enough the New Year came, and I knew I had one main goal in mind. Get better at running no matter what. Even one month into training, my pushups in a minute were going up, planks were getting longer and longer and I was starting to notice my body changing. But boy I still sucked at running. So, we shifted training plans to include running. No matter what, we ran. We ran in rain, in five degree temps with lashing winds, through snow and we crunched through ice. There were times I wanted to stop, sure, but that really was never an option, and I never did.
No matter what was thrown at me, I never even blinked. It was simply an objective for me to complete and overcome, and it was all possible because of the amazing team at Crazy Horse. From day one it was nothing but love and support. By the end of my time with them, as the bus to bootcamp started beckoning I had become a better person. I was more confident in myself, and more than ready to succeed at boot.
Now, after graduating and preparing to head into the fleet, I am more excited than ever to begin PTing again. I may not be there in person, but I know that every night at 6pm my tribe is starting to sweat, and while I may be thousands of miles away I’ll still be right there with them!
I am ecstatic to begin my career in the Coast Guard, and use the skills I have learned at Crazy Horse to succeed! Never give up, and always remember, PT Hard, Love Harder!
