The FSSA needs a complete overhaul. Something needs to be done. I’m not the only one who feels like we’ve been jumping through hoops only for there to ALWAYS be SOMETHING to happen and we don’t receive the assistance we need. I heard at least 3 people and have seen multiple posts from others complaining about the fact they uploaded documents or took them physically to the office only to be told later that they “never turned them in” or something wasn’t completely correct on an employer’s request for earnings document and benefits applications were denied. There’s no communication and no empathy. I get it that the majority of people think it’s just a handout and that people receiving benefits like Medicaid and EBT are low class but it’s helped so many to finally climb out of the financial situation they found themselves in! Yes there’s those that play the system and boast about it but there’s many more who are doing everything they can to make it and STILL are not quite there yet. The system needs help and we need someone in power who knows what it’s like to apply and reapply for food stamps only to be denied because of someone else’s errors, who knows what it’s like to be desperate and stressed about real life issues. We don’t want more luxury apartments and ticky tacky homes. We want truly affordable housing and a livable wage. We want financial stability from prices being at a normal level. It shouldn’t be that you have to be a millionaire to achieve the American dream.
