How I Got Here
I am a piercing artist, tattoo trainee, and serial entrepreneur. I have been piercing full time since 2012. In addition to piercing and owning Prestigious Piercing, I manage Phat Tats Tattoo and do marketing and advertising for Lady Luck Pet Grooming. I work in management, marketing, advertising, sales, human resources, public relations, event planning, I have studied Business Law, and I am also a jewelry specialist. I am a woman of many hats and talents, and if my plate is not over flowing I am not content. I am a member of the Women's Entrepreneur Society of Corpus Christi and I attend the Association of Professional Piercers educational conference.
Ever since I was baby I was at the tattoo studio almost every day and every night. I started working for my dad when I was about 5, on days I didn't have school or a sitter I would help clean floors, do paperwork, and process tubes and tools he needed to tattoo and pierce. Fast forward to age 16. I began working at Phat Tats as a piercer after being taught the basics of piercing. I had no intention of being in the body art industry. I had plans to attend law school, move to Canada for a makeup academy or go to nursing school. But, I promised I would help the family business and pierce temporarily until they found another artist. I was a junior in high school when I started piercing and I would drive about 45 minutes to work and back after school in a classic car with no AC, windshield wipers, seat belts, power steering, or disk breaks. Every day was a gamble and a fun adventure on my way to work and back. While the rest of my class mates were being kids I was starting a career and investing in my future.
Thankfully and unexpectedly I quickly fell in love with piercing, not only that but I fell in love with the responsibility, the challenge, the reaction and the confidence I was able to give to my clients. I quickly realized if I was going to do this I needed to further my education and do it 100% right, or I wasn't going to do it at all. Since then, I have completely changed our practices and upgraded everything we do and continue to challenge myself to be better on a daily basis.
I continue to further my education in anything related to body piercing and being the best business woman I can be.
