๐กHow to avoid stingrays in the surf zone
Want to steer clear of stingrays in the surf zone? Easy peasy. Just take it slow and easy, shuffling your feet like a goofball instead of stomping around like an elephant. Your ridiculous foot shuffling will send a message to stingrays to get outta Dodge.

WHAT ARE RIP CURRENTSโ
They are powerful currents of water flowing away from shore. Rip currents usually extend from the shoreline past the line of breaking waves, and can occur at any beach with breaking waves.
๐กHow to survive a rip current
โ
If you plan to swimming in the ocean, learn how to swim in the surf. Swim only at a beach with a lifeguard, within the designated swimming area.
โ
If you are caught in a rip current, try not to panic.
โ
Signal to those on shore that you need assistance.
โ
Swim parallel to the shore until you are out of the current.
โ
Once you are free, turn and swim toward shore.
โ
If you can't swim to the shore, float or tread water until you are free of the rip current and then head toward shore.
โ
Stay at least 100 feet away from piers and jetties. Permanent rip currents often exist near these structures.
Staying informed and following these precautions can help you enjoy the Texas coastline more safely.
