Alfie recently went on a Foster for the Day out! This is what she had to say about their outing, “My time with this sweet boy, Alfie, was so so special. He is such a perfect companion. Alfie loves playing fetch with tennis balls, car rides, walks (especially if he gets to chase a squirrel or 2), and coffee dates. He’s extremely gentle, has a great attitude, & walks perfectly on a leash (even around other dogs and in busy atmospheres). I have no doubt this great boy will find a forever home very soon! “

Alfie is approximately 7 years old and one of the most easy going dogs you will ever meet! He is a volunteer favorite! He spent a few days in a foster home during the Foster Freeze plea and got along very well with their personal dog.

🌼 Meet Dixie 🌼

Dixie’s story is a little heartbreaking—but we’re hoping the next chapter will be her happiest one yet. She first came to the shelter in December 2025, was adopted, and then a month later she was found abandoned on the streets. Now Dixie is back where she started, understandably confused and unsure why her world changed again.

Dixie may be a little shy at first, but she welcomes soft pets and kind hearts. She’s a perfect fun-size at only 35 pounds and is heartworm negative. She is ready to start fresh with someone who will truly love her and cherish her forever. All she needs is one person to say “yes.”

🚐🐾 Transport Weekend Success! 🐾🚐

It was a big week for lifesaving at Montgomery County Animal Services. 65 dogs left our program on four different transports, heading to seven different states and five incredible rescue partners who will help them find loving homes. 🐶❤️🏡

✨Meet our Dog of the Week: Owen!✨

Not only is sweet Owen our dog of the week, he is also the shelter’s longest resident: waiting over 400 DAYS for a family! 🤯

This handsome guy has been at the shelter since February 2025. He recently spent some time in a foster home and did great there. 🏠

Owen gets overlooked because he is a bigger dog, and he gets excited in his kennel, so he can pull on leash because he is so happy to go outside. He is much better once he gets his shelter wiggles out. He’s also very smart, knows sit, and takes treats gently. AND he is heartworm negative! 🐾

Owen loves to play and will happily amuse himself with all of the toys. He will go back and forth between ropes, squeaky toys, and balls, and loves a nice game of fetch. Volunteers say Owen is handsome, friendly, playful, happy, and so much fun. 🐶

Owen has patiently watched his kennelmates come and go, always wondering if it will be his turn this time. Can we find this friendly pup the forever home he deserves?

MCAS is Your Shelter

MCAS is located at 8535 Hwy 242 in Conroe, TX. The shelter is open 6 days a week for adoptions: Tues-Sun 11:30-5pm and is CLOSED MONDAYS. Intakes are done Tuesday and Wednesday, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 to 4:00. The shelter does not process intakes from citizens on Monday or Thursday. Citizens turning in animals must be residents of Montgomery County and not reside inside the city limits of Conroe (Conroe residents must surrender animals to the Conroe City Shelter).
