They had some new neighbors move in that have their attention, a new herd of cattle! The yearlings (and Dutton) are all so curious…

BACK ON MARKET TO YET ANOTHER PERSON BREAKING THEIR CONTRACT!

LITTLE MISS YUBASAN
“Smarty” 2008 model, sorrel BROODMARE ONLY
14hh
Not panel tested
She is IN FOAL to our stud, a son of Smart Little Lena. Smarty is a range mare and acts like one. She is snorty, hard to catch and can be hateful. (Just being honest). She was a range mare her entire life, wasn’t messed with and when we got her, we finally got her where she could be handled. She has a couple cosmetic scars. Shes had her feet trimmed but has to be sedated. Once she is caught she leads, loads, stands tied and is super easy to breed. She takes almost every time on foal heat. She’s a fertile Myrtle. Shes a super good dam and has gorgeous and thick babies. She has had a foal each year for us and never has had an issue.

BACK ON THE MARKET DUE TO ANOTHER PERSON BREAKING THEIR CONTRACT

YUBAS ARISTOLENA

2006 model, stands right under at 14.1

She has a milky eye she doesn’t see well out of but she is sound. Has a few scars here and there and has been a broodmare since she was young. Had 60 day on her as a two year old and turned out. She leads, loads, stands tied and she’s been hand bred the last four years. She does well with ultrasounding. We’ve only used her as a broodmare and that’s what she’s being sold as. She produces extremely nice babies with lots of chrome. Shes a wonderful dam and is easy to be around when she foals. She has not been panel tested but foals out of her have and have been clean. She’s been bred to the same stud each year.
She is currently open. She foaled this year and we just didn’t get her bred back and it got late on us so we kept her open. She does require a stitch when confirmed in foal. She does need to be sedated when feet need trimmed. She was range mare for majority of her life and never had her feet messed with.

She sells without foal

THE COLD WEATHER IS UPON US! ❄️

Are you familiar with the many adaptations that help your horse stay warm during the cold winter months?

🌾 Hindgut digestion of hay produces the most heat, acting as a small furnace inside of the horse. This is why free choice; good quality hay is so important in the winter.

💪 Horses have a huge muscle mass and muscle activity produces heat. This includes running and playing and even shivering if their body temperature starts to drop. It is important to remember that these activities also will result in a bigger caloric demand so free choice hay and in some cases, grain, is often needed.

🧥 To blanket or not to blanket is a constant debate but either way, as it starts to get cold your horse will grow a thicker coat. If you decide to leave your horse unblanketed you may notice that they look “fluffy”. This is due to a phenomenon called piloerection where the hair stands up to better trap air within. Two layers of the coat also help with warmth. The inner layer is softer and has air pockets to create an insulating layer. The outer layer is coarse and has oils that keep moisture from penetrating the insulating layer and keep the horse warm.

⚖️ Wild horses go into the winter heavier than ideal, and the fat serves as an extra layer of insulation. However, if a horse is going to be kept heavily blanketed and in a barn during the cold weather months this is unnecessary and can lead to obesity related issues.

🦵Their distal limbs (below the knees and hocks) are made of mostly bones and tendons, tissues that are resistant to the cold temperatures.

🦶The hooves have an alternative route of blood circulation through larger vessels that can be used in low temperatures. This is why horses can stand in snow without detrimental effects.

👃A horse’s nose has a robust blood supply and is rounded so that it is less susceptible to frostbite than a human’s nose.

We had an amazing opportunity to buy a herd and a stallion. We weren’t looking for such a big business deal but God saw other plans.

After almost five years, we’ve produced so many amazing colts and fillies, it’s been such a blessing.

There will be times in your life opportunities will come and you won’t know how you can manage but if you hand it over to God and pray about it, he finds a way.

He found a way for K&R and for that, we are thankful.
