TRYING TO LURE BRUCE OUT WITH ALFALFA CUBES- Even though he was trapped in a stall for almost a year he still prefers the stall to freedom.
🐎I leave the gate open most of the time. And I make him come out and socialize. But I want him to want it. I want him to choose it.
🫣It’s amazing how much he reminds me of a certain season in my own life. A time when I would choose what would hold me back simply because it felt familiar and that made me feel safe. The unknown can be scary. For people in recovery from drug addiction that newness is a terrifying level of vulnerability that takes time to get comfortable in. It’s ok to feel afraid and it’s ok to make mistakes. Just know that there’s someone waiting for you outside of your stall and all they want to do is love you.

We rescued a gentle giant! Ok so technically we aren’t the ones who initially rescued this sweet boy, but we are now a part of his journey and hopefully the happy ending he needs! And we can’t wait to meet the family who saved him from where he was! Bruce was abandoned by his previous owners and locked in a stall for almost a year. A month ago he was rescued and brought to my trainer’s barn. Last week I got the message that this boy was looking for a soft place to land. After losing Flash I didn’t think I was ready to take on another horse but knowing what he went through I just had to go see him. Doug and Sam and I all loved him right away and 2 days before Christmas we brought him home! Welcome home Bruce!
