Just got back from the Park with your dog?

Check for ticks. Now.

May is peak tick season on Concord trails, and we're already seeing cases of tick-borne illness in the clinic. One bite can lead to Lyme disease, which costs $500-$1,500 to treat.

Monthly tick prevention? Under $20.

🦟 3 THINGS TO DO RIGHT NOW:
1. Check your dog thoroughly after every trail walk (especially ears, neck, between toes)
2. Start monthly tick prevention if you haven't already
3. Call us if you find an embedded tick — we'll walk you through safe removal

Your pet deserves to enjoy Concord's beautiful trails without the risk.

🌸 Spring in Concord = Allergy Season for Pets Too

If your dog or cat is scratching more than usual, licking their paws obsessively, or has watery eyes, they might be dealing with seasonal allergies.

Common triggers in our area:
✔️ Oak and grass pollen (peak right now)
✔️ Dust from dry conditions
✔️ Mold from recent rain

What you can do:
• Wipe paws after walks to remove pollen
• Bathe pets more frequently during high pollen days
• Keep windows closed on windy days
• Call us if symptoms persist

Allergies can make your pet miserable, but they're manageable with the right care. If you're noticing signs, let's get ahead of it before it gets worse.

🌿 While you’re in, ask about our April prevention packages — staying ahead of fleas, ticks, and heartworm can help reduce additional irritation this season.

🩺 "But my dog seems fine..." — Why Regular Checkups Still Matter

That’s exactly why regular checkups matter.
Many health issues develop quietly — and by the time symptoms show, they’re often more serious (and costly) to treat.

Routine exams help us catch problems early, keep your pet comfortable, and give you peace of mind. 🐾

🌿 If your pet is due for a checkup, April is a great time to come in — enjoy savings on exams when you spend $299+ (mention code: 299).

🥾 Planning to Hike with Your Dog in Concord? Read This First.

Our local trails are beautiful, but they come with risks pet owners need to know about:

⚠️ **Rattlesnakes** — Active now through fall. Stay on marked trails and keep dogs leashed. If bitten, get to us immediately.

⚠️ **Foxtails** — Still a major issue in grassy areas. Check paws, ears, and coat after every hike.

⚠️ **Heat exhaustion** — Temps are climbing. Bring water for your dog, take breaks in shade, and avoid midday hikes.

⚠️ **Ticks** — Peak season is here. Use preventatives and check thoroughly after outdoor adventures.

Best local dog-friendly trails:
✔️ Lime Ridge Open Space (bring water!)
✔️ Markley Creek Trail (shaded, cooler)

Adventure safely, and call us if anything seems off after a hike.

🌿 Tick season is already here — ask us about our April prevention bundles to keep your pet protected on every adventure.

🍽️ 3 Signs You're Accidentally Overfeeding Your Pet (And What to Do About It)

We see this all the time — loving pet parents who don't realize those extra treats and table scraps are adding up.

1️⃣ **You can't feel their ribs** — You should be able to feel (not see) ribs with light pressure. If you can't, they may be carrying extra weight.

2️⃣ **They're gaining weight quickly** — extra treats lead to extra weight gain! Try to limit treats!

3️⃣ **Low energy or heavy breathing** — Extra weight makes everything harder. If your active pet is suddenly sluggish, weight could be the culprit.

The fix:
• Measure food portions (don't eyeball it)
• Limit treats to 10% of daily calories
• Swap table scraps for pet-safe veggies

Weight management isn't about deprivation — it's about longevity. A few small changes can add years to your pet's life.

Need help creating a weight management plan? We're here for that.

🌿 If you’re coming in this month, don’t forget to ask about our April specials on exams and prevention while you’re here.
