Greater Rhea chick hatching just look at that! These beautiful birds are native to South America and are closely related to Ostrich but are only 1/4 the size of their African cousins. Come on out and see the group sometime we have 4 adult pair and can be quite entertaining this time of year while the males do some combatting. They like to grab each other by the beak, do a little head shake and separate while they go into a full sprint up to 30mph🤯

Texas native a stunning Western Pygmy Rattlesnake 😍
This is one of three species of rattlesnake that can be found here in Southeast Texas but not here in Colorado County. We have found them just a few counties over in Montgomery County but the only rattlers we have here in Colorado County are the Western Diamondback and Canebrake( sometimes called Timber). We have all three species on exhibit along with dozens of others that make up the largest collection of rattlers on display anywhere in Texas.
Education is key to understanding these seriously understood but seriously beautiful animals so come on out and take the guided tour where you are guaranteed an awesome learning experience.
