Just another day at work...

Another episode of what happens when Gwen and I are having coffee in the morning. A couple of days ago, on a morning when I amazingly had nothing planned, I got a call from the local Animal Control officer about a lost horse in the area. She called us based on a suggestion from one our biggest fans. The horse had gotten loose from the vet the day before, they had searched all day and night but could not find him. Typically I would not do a search during the middle of the day because of the lower effectiveness of thermals during that time however it had rained and it was overcast and it was urgent, and a horse is much easier to spot so I was pretty confident that could locate him. So… I charged up batteries and headed out for an 11 am arrival. When I got on site, there were several folks driving around the area looking so I set up close to the area in a safe spot and got in the air. Within 3 minutes, someone came by and then the owner came by saying they found the horse, YES!! Another happy ending. I brought the drone back and drove down to where the horse was found and they were loading the horse onto a trailer to head to the vet. Amazingly, even though the horse was tangled up in barbed wire, he did not have a scratch on him.

Even though we didn’t have a hand in locating him, the most important thing is the animal was safely found. And I thank the owner for calling us to help.

LOST DOG. To all our friends in the Leicester area please be on the lookout for Harley, she has been missing since July 17th and we need sightings to better focus the search efforts. There are posters up in the area with her photo and contact information and she did have her collar on when she made her great escape. If you do sight her please, please resist the urge to yell for her or chase her, she is most likely very frightened and you could scare her further off. If you do sight her please note the time and location, try and get a photo for confirmation and contact the owner at the information provided in the post. Please help us bring Harley home. Thank you!

UPDATE: REUNITED!! Harley is home safe & sound after 23 days, 18 hours :)

🚨 Harley was LOST July 17, 2026 in Leicester, NC 28748 near Bear Creek Rd Leicester.

💬 Owner's Message: "O please, Leicester folks, please be on the look out for my Harley; approx 35-37 #'s, looks like a miniature Belgian Malinois. Very shy, will come to you if you ignore him. He's chipped, orange collar with our numbers on a brass plate.
We dropped him off at the dog sitter's on Bear Creek Road; we think something spooked him & he ran into the woods. He looks so much like a coyote & then there are those 😭"
