Though I’ve tried this umpteen times already, I’ll admit to being a fool by trying it again.

It is estimated that more than 300 dogs took part in the search, rescue and recovery efforts at ground zero in the aftermath of 9/11. In addition to search and rescue dogs, therapy dogs were also brought in to provide much-needed comfort to first responders.

Today on the anniversary of 9/11, we pause to remember our heroes—both human and canine.
