It’s grooming weekend at Casa McClellan!

We had to take a break to brag on this goofy boy Hunter. hunter is a board and train who came to us about 4 months ago from ASAP Animal Support & Placement Rescue with some pretty unpredictable aggression. He really did not like to be told what to do, didn’t really want to interact with the other dogs, and loved to growl and try to show you who is boss.

We knew it was going to be an adventure working with him. With a lot of ups and downs.

With our training, we like to focus on the positive behaviors, no matter how small they may seem.

4 months ago, you could barely pet this sweet boy let alone brush him. And being a double coated dog, grooming is very vital to their comfort.

Today, Hunter plays with the other dogs. He loves to be pet and cuddle. He loves respectful kids. He likes to be brushed. And boy does he love to work for food!

He wasn’t a bad dog. He just didn’t know HOW to be a dog.

Let’s reintroduce who we are and what we do! 🐶🐕‍🦺

The way we view our fur babies is a little different. We don’t train for “obedience” because if a dog is “obedient” you’ll constantly have to micro manage their life. We teach dogs how to make appropriate choices, that way when we’re not telling them what to do, they make the right choice. 🐾🦴
